Made a laserbot with some friends to promote the local hackerspace (Knox Makers). Aluminum extrusion and laser cut/engraved wood for the enclosure around a fiber laser. Arduino to interface with the buttons and talk to the laptop (in back). Python code to use Meerk40t's batch file processing ability to burn the proper images, with the right size, position, and laser settings.

I put together a refreshed and highly opinionated extension for Inkscape to create living hinges. It can, of course, do the standard lined living hinge but also offers some different pattern options.
Of course, much of the inspiration, examples, and code come from other open source software. Standing on the shoulders of giants.

Recently made some coins (for a secret project) on the fiber laser using the depthmap functionality of #meerk40t. Shined them up in a magnetic tumbler then darkened them with brass black. #laser #OpenSource

Spent some time figuring out an #opensource way to take my flat vector designs and turn them into beveled depthmap for #fiber #lasercutting. One where I can make a single script to go from svg to depthmap. The results are very satisfying.
