  1. @jonathanmatthews 100%.

I been trying to convince people to use anytime they are yaml programming. But practice has been people still "like" yaml cause that's what they know. 🫠 Fully misunderstanding what a data value validity brings instead to your sanity. 😅

  6. @jonathanmatthews @ellie Started listening to The Colour of Magic audiobook after seeing this thread (1/3 through), everything suddenly makes a lot more sense!

(Side note: Broken Drum tavern reminding me of #emfcamp #cybar)

  7. The movie "A Working Man" (2025) is an absolutely ludicrous, overreaching piece. A poor yet overly-complex plot has literally one saving grace - pictured below.

  8. Today was *gorgeous*! I hiked 30km (North Shields to Blyth and back) in the not-too-hot sunshine all the way 😁 A very little bit of a cool breeze made all the difference!

  9. I jogged 4 lengths of this sandy boi this morning. It might not be much by some folks' standards, but it's real progress for me 😀

  10. 's gorgeous (just around the corner from King Edwards Bay) looks fantastic today, under unsullied blue skies with a fresh cool breeze 😎

  11. Not a bad view for the halfway point of the morning's walk.

  12. This is a great little pub in , near the fish quay.

It had a recent refit and rebrand (I forget its former name), which sadly reduced the space available as they closed the upper floors. But getting served is so much faster, as they now have all the same staff behind the downstairs bar!

Someone mentioned that staff *do* occasionally disappear, only to be replaced by identical folx; but I've never noticed it happening.

The best thing is that their prices keep dropping each month!

  13. This weekend I'm setting up my new as a -based router-on-a-stick for my office network. I'm starting by seeing if will be flexible enough (as well as learning the OS!), or if I'll have to fall back to vanilla | instead - assuming they support line speed for the 2.5GBps Ethernet port. Failing that: . simplynuc.co.uk/zircon/

  14. This little device finally arrived via aliWossname dot cn.

It's a tiny (1 inch cubed!), IP-based KVM that retails for 50GBP, and has an integrated @tailscale client. Ethernet access only (no WiFi), but that kinda suits me.

@geerlingguy introduced me to the device here: youtu.be/riDd6d0Vmy0?si=Fgoogle. Would anyone be interested in a review, or did Jeff's video satisfy you sufficiently?

  19. A update: the idling load average of 1 *wasn't* the fault of , but a perpetually firing IRQ (or something in that area, according to "top") making the system think it had more to do than it actually did.

See if you can spot the point on the graph where I used this really useful blog post (static.xtremeownage.com/blog/2) to help me prep before a update under Proxmox, and then rebooted to resolve the firmware issue ... :-D

  20. Here's a short thread of some coastal photos I took whilst up from to today (and back again). 33.3km, my phone tells me, but I suspect it's overestimating a bit ... 🧵 1/2

  21. beach really is fantastic - I love it!

  23. Earlier this week I #hiked from #Seaford to #Eastbourne - over the #SevenSisters, and up and down #BeachyHead. A fantastic ~18km #hike in great weather ... with a *lot* of hills! 98 "flights of stairs" total, according to my phone 😮‍💨😅😅#UKHiking #SouthDownsWay #countryside #sussex #england
