  6. I also want to say, as I mentioned the other day, the ravens don’t always want to come near me, so I respect the distance and don’t chase. I’m also not in the habit of feeding them (or any other birds). As someone who cares deeply for birds, I recommend following local ordinances and practices, common sense, and the ethics of interacting safely with wildlife.

  7. It was a good morning getting back out with the birds.

  8. I first saw Jerry on Sessions at W 54th late at night on KLCS when I was a senior in high school. He was playing with Viktor Krauss and Bill Frisell on a song I would later know as “Gimme a Holler”. 15. I’ve spent enough time with Ravens to know they’re not always in the mood. But every once in awhile—maybe it’s part of their PR campaign for the Halloween season, or maybe they just finished eating or preening—they’ll humor me and stick around for a moment where they seem just as curious as I am. A genuine “who’s watching who” scenario when I suddenly realize I’ve forgotten to breathe.

  16. First of Season Yellow-rumped warbler. They’re back!

  17. An incredible experience to sit ten feet away from Jerry Douglas, the greatest resophonic guitar player on the planet.
