If you're a good negotiator and/or your bosses aren't shit human beings, you might be able to get those protections written into your contract, but the vast majority of people won't. O. Reg. 285/01 dates back to the Mike Harris days of 2001, so new #ITProfessionals entering the workforce may not even be aware they're exempt from these protections.

While we're on the topic of #Unionization, if you are in #Ontario, remember Part VIII of the #EmploymentStandardsAct (https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/00e41?_ga=2.267831623.830663072.1589199544-1699692134.1480627715#BK31) does not apply to #InformationTechnology Professionals, in toto, thanks to O. Reg. 285/01. (https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/010285#BK11)
That means no mandatory breaktimes, no limits on overtime or mandatory overtime pay, no minimum time between shifts, no right to disconnect outside of working hours, etm.
