Yes, because nitrous oxide does tend to go bad after a while.

In drier climates, even some WWII quonsets have survived. There are 3 U.S. military quonsets sold as surplus to Canada after the war that were used as theatres; one of those, in the Crowsnest Pass, is being refitted for use again (it closed 20 years ago).

#Quonsets are still commonly seen on the Canadian prairies. They make good, cheap equipment barns, so there are still new ones going up on farms and for storage of municipal road/construction equipment and that sort of thing.

    Interesting reflection, thanks.

Also, I've said before that there are very few things in this world that cannot be improved by the addition of googly eyes. I approve.

It is getting hard to imagine it actually getting any worse than it already is (and I'm only talking about water in New Mexico right now!)

I so appreciate the writing of @jbcrawford , author of the "Computers Are Bad" blog.

(Who among you would disagree with the premise of that blog title!?)

Please enjoy, for example, this humorous essay on Cooler Screens, the company that set out to replace the glass doors of the cooler cases in markets, convenience stores, etc.

    > "The retail experience consumers want and deserve," Cooler Screens says on their website. I would admire this turn of phrase if it was intended as a contemptful one. Cooler Screens promise to bring the experience of shopping online, "ease, relevance, and transparency." "Transparency" seems like a poor choice of language when promoting a product that infamously compares poorly to the transparent door it replaces.

  8. I always thought these two small buildings in a downtown parking lot look like they have disruption camouflage.

I believe the smaller of the two is a break room/bathroom for transit drivers. Not sure about the other.

  9. and the thing is the scammer is whatsapp messaging me going through all five stages of grief here. I'm sympathetic since their stolen money is currently tied up in my paypal account.

the thing is that whenever they swing around to "anger" their chosen tactic is to threaten to report me to paypal? I'm already trying to report me to paypal and it won't let me! please try from your end too, good luck!

  10. Someone trying a refund scam sent a fairly big chunk of money to my PayPal account. I assume it was probably sent from a PayPal account that they stole, so I kind of want to get PayPal support to look at it just to mitigate the chances of them locking my account because they think I'm involved.

    hahahaha but this is *paypal*

trying to report the transaction the normal way fails with a "something went wrong." trying to report it via the chatbot leads to a message that it is "not eligible" to be reported.

I guess I just sit around and wait for something to happen?

  18. Hold on, here's the real #apm content. Installed in 1999, the Mandalay Bay Tramway was the premier installation of the Doppelmeyr Cable Liner. This system is now widely installed in the US (by APM standards), including a second on the Strip, the Aria Express. It's a modern cable car, pulled by a wire rope driven from one end, in this case the Excalibur station. This has the advantage of less complexity and wear parts on the vehicle. #automatedpeoplemover
