   My colleague from Estonia speaks Russian with Estonian intonation, I speak Russia with an Irish accent, (some) Ukrainians speak Russian with a HA sound instead of the G sound and are understood, Irish people have a soft t, a very strong U sound and cannot say Th, I don’t get why accents get shit on so hard

   The irony of a Ukrainian teaching RP to Ukrainian English learners is not lost on me. Why do Ukrainians speak Russian. Colonisation. Why do English speakers around the world speak English. Colonisation. And they speak both "with an accent" and get shit on for not being from the brutal coloniser.
