  1. @giascott There has been a major change in #MrMing's feeding schedule and he's not taking it well, either. 😾

  2. @giascott
For the month of December, I get eggnog to have in my morning coffee and the last few days, it's been a locally made #IrishCream. Typically, I'm quite happy with black coffee but it's nice to have an indulgence or 2. I looked at a box of Black Magic chocolates and then saw that they're made by the evil #Nestlé I don't need #ChildSlaveryChocolate.

  3. @giascott We can also blame Cold War jingoism plus the amplification from right wing media for this.

  4. My hiking days are gone, and I know this, but...I have to admit, I have done a 5+ mile hike using a cane in the past, as well as a much shorter 1.5 m hike with a walker over a path that wasn't exactly "accessible" by any stretch of the imagination. (recent).

Don't give up when life kicks you down!

  6. For those who wonder about those pay-to-play apps
Mistplay pays pretty quickly at 1st, though earning gift cards is harder after a while.
Rewarded Play is slower, but also pays.
Habit Gift also pays, but much slower than the others.
No opinion on Tap Champs yet, but it looks like a slow one w/few game options.
I have actually claimed (and spent) about $200 in gift cards to Amazon in the last 2 months. Not getting rich but it does help.

  7. Life...

First, the food processor died and wouldn't spin the blade. Hubby messed with it too.

Then I went to use the blender to replace it (making garlic butter, so it's pureed together.) Couldn't get that to work either, so knew that was something stupid (didn't have it locked into place).

    Pain makes thought processes hard.

  12. Saw my dr today
As usual, we're going through the list of horribles. So far this year, it's been 2 different cancers (nope, early on in the test process) and now it's who knows what involving degenerating joints & spine and/or calcified arteries reducing blood flow to critical areas.

    More tests to follow.

On the plus side, I got a couple of shots that will offer me short term pain relief, although at a cost of random high blood sugar.

    Gotta love the #SeniorLife

  13. My back is staging a strike.

The ONLY relief I get is from the hot tub, and that's temporary as well as restricted by how long I can use it before overheating. To add in the mix is mother nature. She's standing with my back for the strike with a string of thunderstorms.

    Gotta love life.

  14. Today was a horrible, awful positively no good kind of day with pain. The hot tub had gotten turned off when we had a brief power outage last night, so it took all day to get to a min temp. Nothing helps, so I'm going to hit the hay and hope tomorrow is better.

Cross your fingers that my back settles down and I can move a bit!

  15. Today's dinner is courtesy of Dinnerly. We used their meal kit yesterday for chicken fajitas.

I hope their gyros are better than their fajitas were. I'm a good cook, so simplified recipes minus many of the traditional ingredients are a hard sell for me.

  16. It's 4 pm. I am drinking my first cup of coffee for the day. I brushed my hair, but I'm not dressed yet either.

I've got a caffeine headache from sleeping so late minus coffee.

This is what post "bad day" looks like for me. Not possible to do much of anything, but hubby had a nice quiet day w/o "honey do's".

  17. After several bouts with swimmers ear, I finally remembered to buy the otc stuff to prevent it.

Should have bought it quicker and I'd have realized it's mostly alcohol with a tiny bit of glycerin.

Also, if it's already started...yee haw, it burns!

  18. It's 3 am and I just finished round 2 in the hot tub, so it's obviously NOT a great pain day so far. Since bed should be calling me soon, I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow.

I'm very thankful that the hot tub is another tool in my arsenal to cope with pain that's never going to really go away.

  19. For a number of years, I've used a "train case" (aka cosmetic case) for my medicines. However, recently, I've had some bulky ones added that come in huge bottles. Sure, I could repackage them, but...if I travel, that's not wise either. So, I'm looking for a case that is taller, convenient to carry & use, & holds these mega bottles.

It's a pia to search on Amazon for such a thing.

  20. It's a quarter to six in the evening. It's broad daylight, hotter than hell (heat index over 100* F) and I haven't made dinner yet. I DO have buns in the pipeline, but that's an hour away still.

Climate change anyone? If it's this hot the first of July, what's it going to be come August?

Maybe we should consider relocation to a cooler locale. I can't do this heat, tbh.

  21. Well, hubby made an excellent dinner, despite the lamentations of his "having" to do it himself. The only bust was not his fault--it turns out we're not fans of oven roasted broccoli. Crunchy browned bits and broccoli aren't good combos for us.

I told him he did such a good job that I think he should do dinner tomorrow too. (Insert evil grin here.)

Of course, I still unloaded & reloaded the dishwasher. Can't expect a miracle, can I?

  22. I have ruined the hubby's day.

I'm not only suffering with a very painful shoulder, but I'm still recovering from the prep for my colonoscopy...and feel like crap. So, I handed him the recipe card for a EveryPlate delivery meal...and asked him to cook it.

He's a good cook, but rarely does it. He wasn't happy, as he'd have rather just had a sandwich and called it dinner.

  23. A couple of months ago, a blackberry thorn got into my shoe & punctured my foot. It was a booger & took a lot of fussing to get it to heal.

    Then guess what?

Thorn boo boo became a corn!

Never had one, never even saw one before. It was a painful mystery.

So now a "medicated corn pad" is in place, which has eased some of the pain. Hopefully, I can send this thing packing.

  25. The girls have decided that they wanted to go to the flea market. We have two options--one is further away and charges a parking fee (high one at that) and the other is close by & doesn't. I convinced them the closer one was better because we can also do something else. I was hoping the Upick blueberry farm, but whatever...

  26. The joys of a southern summer...

Granddaughters have planned a camp out, so we were awakened early by a t-storm. GD#1 is here, we're picking up #2 about midday.

Their campout may have to be indoors & hot dog roasting is changing to ordering a pizza. Hot tub experience may also be off the table.
