Thanks for this. A really thoughtful meditation.
It's mind-boggling how people have adapted to the virus- in its favour. It makes no sense logically. Some people including me have speculated (god forbid a radical thought) that the virus is, indeed, changing behaviour. Now I'll have to look up changes from toxoplasmosis. Brain damage can also make people careless. Thanks for giving us an interesting lead.

And those of us who have fled from the birdsite are not refugees. We don't refer to ourselves as that because it detracts from the conversations of people who have left in fear of their lives seeking a better life for the future.

@Kay @edsuom Crowds are just not a wise choice for going about bare-faced anymore.
Related: I have #ChronicSinusitis. It flares up if I catch any kind of respiratory bug. Since my immune system is almost constantly trying to keep my sinuses healthy-ish, I catch absolutely everything.
So masking up just makes extra sense to me! Covid or no, I'm glad not to catch a cold from the unmasked guy who came to an event saying he was healthy but his whole family was sick! 🙄

I think this particularly true in gaming. When I think of '70s arcade culture, when I was 12-13, that's completely gone now.
And what's replaced it is this ultra-capitalism where games workers are routinely expected to overwork to levels that affect their mental and physical health.
The money in the biz has made crunch time and un-finished releases commonplace.

I've been meaning to make my own version of @edsuom's dental PAPR ever since he first posted it. Now, thanks to @Nerobro's machining work in black delrin, I have all the parts I should need to do the build, which will be based on the Optrel e3000x. 4/ You don’t want this virus in you because it could fuck up your immune system. That’s my blunt summary of Dr. Leonardi’s teachings, which helped cement my own resolve to never get infected if I can help it. So far, never have. My #N95 mask is a permanent part of my life now.
We now are seeing the devastation this virus has had on people’s immune systems. And there are now papers, few if any of which acknowledge Dr. Leonardi, I’m guessing, that document the very quantifiable result of all these mass infections.
He was right. And it didn’t do him much good. As far as I know, his warnings didn’t help his career any. They certainly didn’t help his popularity.
