  1. @docRekd thanks. I just saw that one (re-toot below) and it got me curious. Was considering trying NixOs for a while now (currently using #gentoo for ages with brief switch to #funtoo till got in a fight with Robbins, cause of, ironically, single person of decision and no proper roadmap), but seems it is not good timing now 😅

  2. @docRekd @raito When dealing with lots of #backup , it's worthy to make use of deduplication software like #FSlint .

If you don't use it yet, learn about it here: techhub.social/@andersbateva/1

  3. @alxlg #nix is fundamentally a build system with the largest package repository and a fully declarative linux distro attached in its standard library

You can absolutely build oci containers with it and they end up way smaller than those built with #dockerfiles as they only include the necessary programs instead of an entire package manager from whatever distro t hey were based on

  4. @huuishuu I personally are more wore worried about all the data that #microsof is exploiting out of its users, and think that switching to #linux is an answer more viable than given credit

  5. @jakehamilton #nixpkgs is also the part with need forking the least as Eelco didn't contribute much to it anyways. The problems were all in #cppnix so the community should focus on forking it

  10. Not only they managed to actually make big cloud pay for #redis development, they also shows us how:

just make yourself so popular that everybody and their grandma uses it, then make yourself so hated that nobody want to work with you, like by re-releasing it under the #sspl

  11. #Redis: We want #BigCloud to start paying for Redis' development, so #RedisSSPL

Big cloud: start Redis #fork development under #LinuxFoundation, funded by big cloud

Redis dev team: move to Linux Foundation, funded by big cloud

Truly a galaxy 5d chess with multidimensional time travel brain moment from Redis team.

  12. I know that regulation in the #USA are pretty lax and "judge" #Kavenaugh is fighting hard to make 'em even more, but how in the hell did the deathtrap of a rusty knife on wheels called #Tesla #Cybertruck #TeslaCybertruck pass any kind of safety regulation? Are #trucks exempt from ALL #regulation in #America?

  13. One thing I like about the #Xperia is that #Sony is not brave enough to take away #microSD readers, #headphoneJack , a fingerprint reader outside the screen or top and bottom bezels for front facing speakers.

And this without taking away of those flagship goodies like godlike 21:9 screen or a camera straight from Sony's R&D

And even the short update support can be mitigated by Sony's excellent support for #AOSP
