Hugo, @diondokter and @tamme attended Embedded World last week; It was a blast, and Rust was remarkably well represented!
Our contributions:
- Tamme's talk 'Rust Embedded Ecosystem: An Overview'
- Dion's talk 'Using Rust with Existing Systems'
- the 'Advanced Embedded Rust' class, hosted by both Tamme and Dion
- the 'Rust on Embedded' booth, which we ran together with Wouter and @jamesmunns.comThanks to everyone who visited for the great conversations!

Async Rust is amazing, but embedded application shows that it is far from the zero cost abstractions we were promised. Dion proposes to fix this problem at the root, in the compiler: https://tweedegolf.nl/en/blog/237/async-rust-never-left-the-mvp-state
If you're with a company or organization that can benefit from this work and is willing help fund it, please reach out to @diondokter!

I'll be at RustWeek too!
I'd love to talk with you all about my OSS project like device-driver or my async optimization plans, but also any general embedded Rust topic :)
So if you see me around, feel free to walk up!

I've been a fan of Delta for like 10 years now. Performed well on stage!

"readonly" LLM use is still not free of sin of course, but starts to fall in the 'personal consideration' bucket.
It's similar to how a person can choose to drive his car for fun, travel by airplane or eat a kilo of beef every day. Reasonable people can disagree on these things.
-
I still think it's best to keep out LLM code, at least for now. It prevents some of the big issues, those being: copyright, loss of codebase knowledge & skill atrophy.
It still permits some LLM use like private reviews, idea sparring & debugging, without them being forced on others.
-
This whole Rust project LLM policy thing is weird.
It seems they're gonna err on the side of not allowing or limiting LLM generated contributions, except there's this 'experiment' thing that would allow veterans to use LLMs regardless.
To me that seems like a cop-out to keep some people happy

Dude who's doing some unethical shit asks everybody to please not consider the ethical implications

I might have outdone myself with the generics :P
Luckily users don't need to look at it!
