Regarding the #ProgrammingChallenge you posted about on June 7, 2018...

That would appeal more to me if it was 20 days and if we were all doing the same algo each day as each other, for more interesting comparisons.

Then we can see how the algos look in different langs, and refresh our familiarity of stuff we haven't seen since CompSci class, or new stuff.

    > In the end #Matrix still seems the most promising one to me, due to the presence of both a public community and a IM.

#Matrix is client/server, so quite a different beast from #Tox / #Ring, which are serverless. Matrix seems like a good candidate for replacing both #IRC and #Slack, given that it's federated by default (unlike IRC which needs a bunch of extra stuff to support federation), and it's an open protocol (unlike Slack which is a #DataFarm).

Also, I hadn't checked out your site before. I'm glad you included a link—it looks really interesting.

I've been meaning to get my dotfiles organized/backed up better; I might give a spin.

  4. @danyspin97 But also agreed on the to-each-their own point. I feel like I've moved *somewhat* far up the power/simplicity curve, but would still be interested in going further. Maybe , maybe , maybe even if I'm feeling bold.

Something to look forward to, anyway

  5. @LPS @xmpp @danyspin97 not really, #Kontalk still talks to all the other #XMPP servers. It just does so via the Kontalk network of XMPP servers, instead of the server of your choice. It's probably one of the better choices for new XMPP users.

For example, if you threat model was about '#DataFarmers collecting my data and spooks passively hoovering it up via known back doors', then #Tox might be a good choice. But because Tox is highly experimental, if you or your contacts are high-value targets to organizations with access to skilled crackers, it's security level isn't good enough to protect you. These are the considerations you need to work through, ideally in conversation with your contacts.

I tend to try new things, a lot of new things. Sometime I just switch back to what I think it was better, sometimes I am happy with the new things.

About colorscheme, I always come back to some gruvbox-like colorscheme.

Did you tried ? What did you think of it?

These developers have created something that works, is modular, simple and it's a perfectly crafted piece of software.

However this doesn't have a lot of support currently, there are only 2 distro which implements the s6 suite:

distro is an arch-based distro which uses this init and supervision suite.

There are also efforts to support this on .

I was thinking about 100 days of code.
You have to write an algorithm each day, using whatever language you like, and share it here on Mastodon.

Be clever or be simple, just have fun!

  11. Would anyone be interested in a Mastodon ?

    There is a new out?

I've wasted two hours of my life watching the first, I don't to waste time again...

For me it was usually bad. It's not that they tried it. They just put a classic love story with characters acting predictable all the time. (from what i remember)
