I received an #AmazonEchoDot during a white elephant gift exchange. Is there any way to use these without connecting to the internet/Amazon?
It would be great if I could connect this hardware to a local server and have it do some simple tasks, like setting a five minute timer.
But I don't really want to open the door and have it listen, analyze, and report back everything I say.
I hate to send a new piece of tech to the trash bin.

Ordered a new #MacBookPro14 today from amazon, $400 less than the price on Apple.
It will replace my 10 year old #MacBookAir that is starting to show its age.
Hoping this new laptop will also last another 10 years!

Was doing some house chores when my #SynologyNas started beeping.
It turns out, my 3 year old daughter climbed up a book case and started pulling out hard drives. Two of my drives are now in bad states.
On the plus side:
- Everything is backed up elsewhere, so I *should* be able to recover.
- I have a long weekend where I can put my recovery process to the test.
- I have an excuse to buy a new drive.
- I have my own 3 year old #ChaosMonkey.
