My 2025 Northern Landscapes calendar is available for purchase. It features images from northern Minnesota, the Boundary Waters, and Lake Superior. I'm hesitant to post this here, because last year when I did I got criticized for trying to be a working artist and provide for my family. But I know that some of you bought them. @bryanhansel Years ago I owned a remote piece of property on Sleeping Bay of Lake Superior. This is in the western part of the Michigan UP. One year I drove as close as I could get, hiked from there, waded chest deep to cross the West Fork of the Sleeping River and then went for a balmy swim in the lake.
The bay is relatively shallow and has a hard sand bottom. When there is an onshore breeze the warm surface water is pushed into the bay. I could have played in the water all afternoon.

I’m only really interested in non5/7/5 haiku as per #Frogpond and #ModernHaiku
So far I’ve just been tagging my posts with a simple #haiku tag most of the time but these posts tend to get drowned out by people writing 5/7/5 haiku and haiku-bots posting automatically generated nonsense
Maybe if we can come up with an appropriate hashtag we can create a group and link posts about non5/7/5 haiku to the group

I just heard that there's still 14 inches of ice on the lakes in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. It looks like another week or so before they open up.

I'm below 10 pounds of gear for my backpacking bikepacking, and canoe camping base weight (paddling gear and biking gear not included). For bikepacking, I don't use the pack listed, and I haven't weighed the bikepacking bags that I use. I'm using Ortleib gravel panniers, a Rogue Panda top tube bag, and a Revelate Designs Pronghorn and Egress handlebar bag. So, probably 4 pounds in bags. I should get lighter panniers.
