@bignose yeah, that's probably fair. And also not having all the used subdomains listed is more of #SecurityThroughObscurity play, if I need to keep any of them secure, better do it regardless of of the the information about the existence of that subdomain being widely or narrowly distributed.
The "make a cert per subdomain" might be easy, while it also cuts against the "limit the number of moving pieces" aspect of administration, that I believe in (not to the extreme, but still).

@bignose A non-Facebook Metaverse is actually a cool idea. I'd be onboard with it. I'd like to see the metaverse where communication protocols and hardware standards are established and universal so any vendor can create compatible hardware. Software would be open source and federated so anybody could host their own zone, which could be as small as a room or house and as big as a planet or even solar system. Of course, that wouldn't let #Mehta control the whole thing, so probably won't happen.

I find it helps to #translate those #popups to "Please #disable your #adblocker so that our un-vetted executable #code can run without #permission on your computer and rummage through whatever information your browser has not sufficiently #locked it out of, and then send it $DEITY-knows-where for our #commercial benefit".
It sounds somewhat less appealing and White Knight-y then, which is probably why these sites avoid the more #truthful description.
