  7. Excited to announce that Fungus Gnats Online, a on life-support, has now been ported to @TaxonWorks hosted by the .

We hope this is the first of many (all?!) nomenclature/taxonomy efforts finding a home with us.

Congrats to Vlad and @gdower for their hard work on this migration. Look for a version in the mid term.

  8. Seed bugs of the world, rejoice! One of the original "Species Files" has finished migrating to TaxonWorks and we've added a TaxonPages front-end to it.

  13. Participating in a #SpeciesList software #hackathon with the @TaxonWorks team at the #IllinoisNaturalHistorySurvey in #Champaign. Currently looking at ways to stream components of a species list so they can be imported as easily as possible into different databases, including as update patches. This should simplify interoperability between TaxonWorks and #ChecklistBank and help with processing updates from journal articles.

  14. Created my first small (and not widely useful) repository on @Codeberg today. It's from the hackathon this week with @TaxonWorks to improve interoperability of taxonomic data tools.

The code is a small Python program to serialise #CatalogueOfLife data packages as a "tape" of objects that can be handled atomically in order by a processor in another tool. This is really just a first step towards more automation for the #GlobalLepidopteraIndex.

  15. An updated checklist of geometrid #moths (~14% of all moths) was published last year as the Online #Taxonomic Facility of #Geometridae

The data are now also in #ChecklistBank and will replace the current outdated #LepIndex list in #CatalogueOfLife, @gbif, etc.

I've also edited #Notodontidae in the @TaxonWorks Global Lepidoptera Index dataset at least to match Schintlmeister's 2013 catalogue (now handling later works):

  16. Released 0.52.0. Changelog: github.com/SpeciesFileGroup/ta

A big update "under the hood". Lots of code DRYing. Performance improvements, particularly for data packages. Many filter/facet additions with more options for batch updating. Lots of UI QoL improvements. Bugs squashed.

  17. Released 0.47.0. Changelog: github.com/SpeciesFileGroup/ta

Copy/paste edits from spreadsheets to custom DataAttributes. Data Package improvements. Digitization optimizations. Multifurcating keys! Numerous bug fixes and backend updates (, ).

  18. Released 0.42.0 Changelog: github.com/SpeciesFileGroup/ta

    Life, the Universe, Everything!

Well, not quite. More cloning features though, and ways to visualize "the universe" (of data). Better indexing synchronization, more API endpoints, more built in . Update to 7. Less need for a ( many bug fixes), better babelfish (email authentication means far less false-positive spam).
