  1. New post on my blog today, and this one goes out to all the #teens — especially the #TeenGirls — who have shocked the adults by being honest that being a teenager sucks. stacykess.com/2023/02/20/teen-

  2. (Finally getting around to posting.)

@mbta’s new GM had a first day like most Bostonians. He rode the T to get to work. He stopped to talk to reporters. He went to the office. Typical first day. #MBTA #FixTheT #Transit

  3. Hey #Boston and vicinity, tomorrow is the new @mbta general manager’s first day. If you had one question to ask him, what would it be? #Transit #MBTA #FixTheT

  4. The @washingtonpost editorial board is on the wrong side of the issue here.

The #DisabledVeterans aren’t receiving gobs of money in #disability benefits.

Instead of calling to bring the benefits of #disabled veterans in line with civilians, how about calling for bettering the system of #SSDI and #SSI, which is failing millions of #disabled people? How about calling for a way to stop failing the #veterans who are turned away from their rightful disability benefits?

    Do better, WaPo.

  5. Just 75 miles NW of the #EastPalestine train derailment, this factory explosion killed 1, severely injured several and may have caused #LeadExposure in the #OakwoodVillage community only a few weeks later. Where’s the outcry for them? … from @washingtonpost #RacialJustice #EnvironmentalJustice wapo.st/3LzVyGM

  6. Good morning, #Boston. First, I’m sorry about your morning #commute. Second, I’ll find out why the #MBTA slowed all the lines at the 10 a.m. presser. Third, I’ll let you know what I know as soon as I know. #Transit #FixTheT

  7. @fletch1 I defended that reporter, since the article was about asking for accommodations, was fantastic and the using the colloquial term was intentional. Now I’m receiving all the hate (#BringIt). It wasn’t a health or medical article, nor was it only about PACS, but hey, being myopic is the way we function these days…

  8. Good morning, and happy #TaxSeason. Before you file with one of those #TaxServices we all see advertised on the tele, check out today’s newsletter piece in @themarkupthemarkup.org/hello-world/2023 — and read this piece by reporter Colin Lecher from November: themarkup.org/pixel-hunt/2022/.

  9. Since no one else wants to say it, I will: #Medicare is broken beyond funding. Ask someone who has to navigate the #DonutHole versus selecting a scam #AdvantagePlan (then navigate denials for meds and procedures).

But lawmakers don’t use Medicare. Not Scott (with proposed #sunsets), nor Sanders (with #MedicareForAll). They use Tricare. What do they know about the complexities #seniors and #disabled people navigate? If lawmakers actually used Medicare, they’d fix it.

  10. Good morning, #Boston. Hope you are staying as warm as possible the next few days.
Here’s a few important links to help if you or someone you know needs a place to keep warm:
    - Boston #WarmingCenters: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d
    - #SomervilleMA: somervillema.gov/departments/h
    - #CambridgeMA: cambridgema.gov/Services/winte
    - #Medford: facebook.com/MedfordMAofficial
    - Dial 211 in your city to find a local #WarmingShelter if not listed above.
And please add to this list! This is by no means comprehensive. Thanks.

  11. Good morning, #Boston. I’d like to start out this morning with something relatable to so many Bostonians:

That horrible feeling when you need to be somewhere and you’re standing on the platform watching the time for the next Orange Line train arrival get further and further away…

    #MBTA #FixTheT #OrangeLine

  12. @nstinnett LOVE this beautiful design! This could be the answer to not just safe cycling around #SullivanSquare, but add a pedestrian lane for walkers too!

I’m in. Let’s build it! Got my hammer ready!

  13. CW: Mass shootings

I’ve held a gun. I’ve shot a gun. I’ve shot a high caliber rifle. I’m not against hunting. I have friends who live in remote parts of Canada and have had a moose charge them.

But over time, I’ve rethought everything I think about who should have guns, where they should be kept, and how we should be able to handle them — because of all the senseless death I’ve seen, personally and professionally.

What are your thoughts, #BostonVerse? Sound off.

  14. How does one say “good morning” today, #BostonVerse?

As many of you did yesterday, I watched as a tightly knit Chinese-American/Taiwanese-American/Hongkongese-American community in #MontereyPark, Calif., was rocked by a #MassShooting.

    A thread of thoughts.

  15. #DayInTheLife of a #NewsReporter:
    - Opens 30 tabs on browser
    - Sends out 45 emails
    - Leaves 20 voicemails
    - Gets up to refill coffee and spills said coffee as you rush back to desk to you heard your email notification after sending out an email only to realize that spam that slipped into your inbox
    - Sends out 10 more emails and gets immediate reply, but it’s only an out of notice reply
    - Leaves another voicemails

  16. Good morning, #BostonVerse. What are you doing today?

This morning I’m reading a million dollar lesson in how NOT to file a lawsuit. Don’t worry, though; I’m not paying a dime. storage.courtlistener.com/reca

  17. Good morning, #BostonVerse. I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up (or down), but word is we are under a #WinterWeatherAdvisory and could get about 3 inches of #snow between tonight and Friday night in the #Boston metro area…
