  1. @ProfessorCode @DevOrionGames With #EgoVenture we're currently staying with Godot 3. Mostly because of missing time for the migration and because games made with it usually don't require the latest features.

However, we're eager to migrate at some point because of the new GDScript features.

For new projects I'd always use latest though.

  2. @ProfessorCode I'd recommend using flatpak with flatseal and fine tuning the permissions (like if the program doesn't need internet, take the internet permissions) for most people. It's the perfect mix of #security and #easeofuse

  3. The results for my entry are out now. (I am ranked at #7 for individual entries.) I didn't really do too well. I am still trying to figure out why the game crashes on some systems. 😞

  4. Just found out that I won an award for my PyWeek 34 entry. It's a little shabby so I was quite surprised. 😃 Anyway, looking forward to what the judges have to say about it.

  5. For anyone who is interested, please check out my latest PyWeek entry for which the theme was 'The Red Planet'.

I ran into a couple of issues, which I have highlighted there, but I would still appreciate any feedback I can get.

You can also see my previous entry for the last PyWeek.

  6. I've used a variety of traditional desktop environments ever since I started using Linux, but I've never really had a reason to try any tiling window managers.

Now that Wayland is here, I am really interested in trying out either Hyprland or Sway. I'd really like to know what you all prefer and why.

  11. Wow! I just realized that is actually running a fork of Mastodon called "Smilodon".

I think what's a bit more surprising is that, if you go to its GitLab page, you'll see that there hasn't been a single commit since about 2 years ago.

  12. As a part of upgrading my terminal experience, I also wanted to upgrade my Python shell. The default one is a bit "painful" to use.

After checking out both IPython and bpython, I went with bpython. It has much less features compared to IPython, but it is also more convenient to use and looks a bit better out of the box.

  17. I just spent the last two days upgrading my terminal. After seeing the default experience on Kali Linux, I always wanted to have something similar on my main machine (using Linux Mint).

I am proud to say that I finally achieved it using a combination of Terminator, FISH and Starship. 🥳 I chose this route because it takes considerably much less effort to set up.

  22. @thelinuxcast iPhone is a really nice piece of hardware but I would want more. To be more specific, the firmware would have to be open source and I would like it to run a mobile-optimized Linux distro.

was the closest thing to this dream I have but it's a pity that the team and their project ended up dissolving. 😟

  23. The good news is that most of the reviews said the concept of the game itself and my take on the theme 'The Red Planet' was interesting.

Although, the control scheme I chose is one thing that probably needs to changed. I thought it made sense but it seems that not many people liked it.

  24. #ProfessorConfessions #AcademicChatter so here at the end of three 10 week quarters and an intense school year my level of exhaustion and irritation is on them, then I get this spam complaint email..

  26. #ProfessorConfessions today I'm grading exam 1 in my DC Circuits course.
