  1. Given the White House Correspondents' Dinner is organized by the non-governmental nonprofit White House Correspondents' Association, why in hell would they ever consider holding their event in the future Whitehouse Ballroom and so give the administration some control over who can and cannot attend?
The whole idea is dumb but nobody seems to be pointing this out.

  5. Folks, to speak your mind without harassment or arrest from the lawless US administration, you must avoid usage of US based companies and US based services!

  6. I grew up on Long Island very close to Bethpage State Park, where I played many rounds of golf in my youth.
Every time I return to visit family I observe incivility now permeates across many aspects of life there; during driving, riding the train, waiting in line for something, in the dog park, etc.
And sure enough, I've also observed the massive rise of MAGA support there, which correlates with the descent into this barbaric behavior.
I'm very thankful to be living somewhere where people still treat each other decently.

  7. For all those bicyclist voters in #CambridgeMA attached find a useful graphic from Cambridge Bike Safety regarding the candidate's support of safe streets.
Remember, in ranked choice voting it's important to NOT rank any candidate whom you would NOT want to see voted in.

  8. Folks, when placing your carry-ons in the overhead compartment, you should place them ON THEIR SIDES so the compartment space can be maximized.
I'm amazed how many travelers haven't learned this yet...
Not doing so is inconsiderate for those boarding later who then needlessly struggle to find space for their carry-ons.

  13. Never promote or elect into leadership an individual who lacks empathy.
Some in the US will tout the benefit of such an individual's ability to make decisions in a dispassionate manner and so act in the best interest of organizational survival.
But in the aftermath of tragedy you see immediately how poorly equipped such leaders are to lead actual human beings, failing utterly for lack of understanding of the feelings of their employees or constitutes.

  14. Hannaford's recent weeklong outage has me wondering: Do companies truly understand the cost of cutting corners on engineering talent?
These unacceptably long outages which are more frequently occurring at major retailers highlights a common problem I'm seeing in tech: undervaluing highly experienced & knowledgeable engineers. It's way past time for companies to rethink their hiring priorities... stop cheaping out on your Ops and Sec talent, it's going to cost you far more in the end!
I'm exceptionally good at building reliable & resilient systems & teams, so it's super frustrating to be unemployed while witnessing preventable outages for which I could have made a difference. Yes, it's true, 30+ years of engineering experience doesn't come cheap, but I'm damn sure my price is far less than the loss in revenue from a weeklong eComm outage at a major business!
Anyway, if yer looking for a decent engineer/leader, please reach out...

  15. Having tested Tesla's Full Self Driving (Supervised) on greater #Boston streets this past summer in my 2023 Model 3, my finding was that the level of effort to be on guard to react and correct against the car doing something wrong, potentially very rapidly, is GREATER than the level of effort to just drive the car yourself. So, that high level of effort defeated the entire purpose of FSD.
Hopefully they'll eventually achieve safe autonomous driving in difficult environments like Boston, but it seemed to me they were pretty far off still despite a bunch of articles written by folks seemingly on the take from Tesla showing stellar results on clearly cherry picked driving scenarios.
This article detailing the results from AMCI testing more closely matches my FSD experience:

  16. A #legal question for those in the know...
While riding your #bicycle in #MA , if a driver breaking the law puts your life in danger, such as failing to yield to you while you're riding through an intersection or a traffic circle with right of way, are you legally allowed to utilize deadly force to save yourself from harm or death?
Given it appears to be open season on #bicyclists by drivers in the #Boston area, rather than just accepting the maiming and deaths, can we start fighting back against those who are seemingly trying to kill us?

  18. We need to charge truck drivers who kill #bicyclist and pedestrians in avoidable scenarios with vehicle manslaughter so that they as a class of drivers will start taking greater care. Once again, a truck driver seemingly fails to utilize the vehicles mirrors and so kills someone. And will likely have little to no repercussions because “it was accidental”. They have a license to kill, which is maddening!
