I also want to say, as I mentioned the other day, the ravens don’t always want to come near me, so I respect the distance and don’t chase. I’m also not in the habit of feeding them (or any other birds). As someone who cares deeply for birds, I recommend following local ordinances and practices, common sense, and the ethics of interacting safely with wildlife.

I first saw Jerry on Sessions at W 54th late at night on KLCS when I was a senior in high school. He was playing with Viktor Krauss and Bill Frisell on a song I would later know as “Gimme a Holler”. This was in Frisell’s Klein era so there were two cool, weird guitars I knew nothing about—remember, no google or YouTube back then. It was, and still is, one of the most beautiful sounds I’d ever heard.

While I was waiting for birds I heard acorns intermittently falling onto a parked car and assumed it was a woodpecker but when I looked up I saw this Amazon. I didn’t know they ate acorns, and I’d never seen one with so many different colored feathers on the head. Almost reminded me of a lorikeet!
