  1. Two things I learned today.
    1. Topsoil is expensive this year. Used to be a buck a bag, $2.79 now.
    2. Renewing my CDCP (Canadian Dental Plan) is ridiculously easier than it appeared to be last week. I assume I was on the wrong site. There was this grid MFA thing. I've never seen that before.

Oh, OK 3 things. It's frickin' cold here in Toronto!

  8. A friend just used the term 'neck of the woods'. Back on the farm, we had names for several locations, one was 'the neck'. It was a patch of dense wood in the farthest field to the south. I remember there was a well in it, a dug well I suppose, maybe not. There were four wells on the property. Anyway, the neck was the least visited section of the farm but the name describes it perfectly.

  12. A preview of the podcast I've been working on for over two years. Concept in July of 2024, approval and then lots of work before this special preview was released. Take a look, if you're interested in Japanese Canadian history. Parts of it aren't pretty but these survivors are still willing to share their experiences.

  16. I forgot to put the loose tea in the jug this morning before I put the hot water in. Yesterday I almost forgot to add coconut flakes to the Fiddle Diddles I was making for the staff at Momiji. These days I often can't see things that are right in front of me, chainsaw oil being the latest. It's a bit frightening but I do have a lot on my mind. Big head but little mind.

  24. Ontario peeps, the LCBO now includes everything in their online/store pricing. The deposit shows on your bill as an extra but it's included in prices on the shelf and those listed online. The Beer Store shows product pricing only, HST and deposit are extra, at least they were last time I checked. The BS doesn't sell St. Andre's anyway so I stocked up this morning. (Igloos are perfect for storing beer, by the way. Just poke a can into the wall and you're good to go.)
