Was able to take my Pint out and ride with a couple local OneWheel guys this morning. They were super nice and it was a chill ride through downtown, midtown, and around Virginia Lake. So, last night i watched one of those public-domain noir films i mentioned the other day (these: https://www.openculture.com/free_film_noir_movies). The one i watched was "Five Minutes To Live" -- the combination of Johnny Cash & 7-year-old Ron Howard was too compelling to resist. It was a fine film, but i was surprised by how frightening Johnny Cash was as the brutal guitar-playing accomplice. He kills without a second thought. There's an assault/rape scene that's chilling. And bonus: there's a bowling scene! #NoirFilms

I have waited all year to make this next recipe from Stanley Ginsberg's "The Rye Baker": a South Tyrolean Christmas Zelten, or a Zelten di Natale. It's related to a panettone and fruitcake, but it's not as heavy as the latter. it's chock full of spices & rum- and wine-soaked dried fruits and nuts, like raisins, figs, walnuts, and pine nuts. If you haven't seen "The Year of The Horse" concert film from 1990, the entire thing is worth your time. She is simply riveting.
