  1. @martinfleis for what it's worth I have updated all of the modules according to your recipe and have a backwardly incompatible #pysal #momepy but Shapely 2.0 "compliant" version on GitHub.

This is based on my now-closed pull-request. It passes pytest validation and I'll use this in the meantime.

(With this and the #pyogrio issue at Christmas, which is fixed, I seemed to be inadvertently surfing the bleeding edge somewhat).

Anyway thanks again for all these toolsets and your help today.

#cakeism was a mirage conjured up by the #fatController that never existed, and does not now get referenced often - even by #planks like #reesMogg

There is only one way to salvage some of what we lost with #brexit - cooperate wth the #EU and agree #alignment to mutual benefit

No chance of that with the #toriesOut in power

Well yes - but the #SNP
is effectively a one-policy party in a small country that wants to leave a union - in some lights more like UKIP than #labour

I jest - SNP are centre-left and the #kippers on the firm #right - but having lived in #scotland the nationalism there is commonplace, & more about escaping #englishDomination than far-right racial identity or dreams of #empire

Much more of a rallying cry than attitudes to membership of a supra-national trading bloc

The current #labourLeadership seem risk-averse - unsurprising after 5 electoral defeats

I expect as we move closer to the #nextGE and publication of a #manifesto that the direction will become clearer.

Promising the unattainable - like #rejoin within a single term - is not a vote winner but actually puts people off.

#labour already has some bold policies - #lordsReplacement #nonDom tax status removal
    removing #privateSchool charity status

    I expect more soon

Actually not true - #starmer #nandy and others have made it clear that #labour will work to improve relations and trade with the #EU - and many EU leaders openly welcome the prospect of a labour government

  13. @MartinFarrent @weit_im_westen Indeed, that's why many who want to change the political landscape favour #proprotionalrepresentation... but the problem is firstly the #LibDems had their chance with the PR referendum & made a has of it; secondly while in opposition parties often play with a policy of PR, but as an election approaches & they see the prospect of power under FPTP they lose interest (perhaps cynically?)

👆 #Circumstances and #ForceMajeure will be calling the shots. The #Brexperiment equates to learning about hand-grenades by seeing what happens once the pin is pulled out. (💥)

    Also, don't forget #Demographics:
a lot of old racists* & #Tory-voters & #Leave-voters will be shuffling off even as we speak. ⚰

[* For the absence of doubt, no, I'm not saying all oldsters are racists; I'm an oldie & not the R-word. Or the T-word. Or the L-word.]

    ni la víbora me pica
ni quema mi frente el Sol.

  22. @bkeegan @martinfleis @mszll @geopandas Your main problem is actually the heterogeneity of the target environment. You can solve this using a virtual machine (e.g. VirtualBox) so that each student get the exact same environment ( which you can setup yourself beforehand ). #OSGeoLive linux distribution is a good example of a fully packaged GIS environment you can use as a starting point ( not sure it includes all geopandas deps though).

Well I fear you will be disappointed - the #SingleMarket comes with #FreedomOfMovement and the #EU has repeatedly stated that you can't have one without the other - I do not see any way either the #EU - or many of the #52% - will wear it

We need to explore (once we have a sane government) how far #realignment and #cooperation with #EU will take us out of this hole we are in
