In 10 years, 60% of us will live in cities. 70% right around the corner too. Cars in cities responsible for bulk of (I didn’t catch it — GHG emissions?). Speaker is going so fast. Pace yourself friend, we have 90 minutes.
Strong conference theme: ppl moving to cities even more than the century that came before. Cities will have front seat in solving climate crisis & more. Here on mobility track - getting ppl out of cars in cities is key. #SCEWC22 #TMWC22

“Women are our main customer.” Higher rate of usage of mass transit in Barcelona.
“Transit not gender neutral.”
We designed whole system for getting from point a to point b rather than viewing transit as focused on users. Soft skills not valued in ppl doing this work for too long. We want to attract more ppl to our systems to get ppl out of cars #SCEWC22 #TMWC22

Next panelist: E-cars won’t cut it for solving climate crisis. More men cycle than women. So 1 easy way to meet goals will be increasing cycle participation of women. If we want to meet goals - how do we create infrastructure for “multistop” Eg school drops. Ebikes game changer. (That’s been true for me!) #SCEWC22 #TMWC22

For #Boulderites — y’all know I’m thinking about #CUSouth as a potential #EnergyPositive new build opportunity!
Also this room’s chair situation / vibe makes more sense to me. I might have nightmares about those sideways yellow pylons seemingly trying to stab seated panelists over in the yellow room. #SCEWC22 #TMWC22

I’ve scooted over to hear about #Stockholm’s path to becoming “energy positive.”
Speaker talking about making it easy for ppl to opt into public transit. Strict demands on developers key too. All-woman panel & moderator. Energy positive requires optimizing at a higher level. Districts. What is energy positive, moderator asks. (Thank you!) Answer: in an energy positive district gotta use thermal heating (bldgs) & electrical (mobility) energy —> produce more energy than you use. #SCEWC22 #TMWC22

Since I misspelled “Kyiv” earlier, here’s a brief PSA on why it’s #KyivNotKiev & why that matters.

If you’d like read this rather than watch a 24 minute video, I have the transcript up at https://knowledge.rachelbrindle.com/videos/electric-aviation-viability/index.html

A couple weeks ago, I gave a talk at @omt_conf on What's New in Testing. That talk was recorded, but while I wait for it to be edited and published, I published an edited (and updated!) version of my speaker notes from that talk.
There's a lot new in testing since last year. I'm still surprised there wasn't a WWDC video about all the new things you can do.
