It is unforgivable that any mature economy has only a single tool (central bank interest rates) to tame inflation.The *first* tools should be anti-price gouging rules, trust busting actions and windfall taxes.

Bit of UBI goodness. The only reason it's not implemented is because if people weren't stuck in underpaid jobs where corporations don't pay a living wage and welfare is used then they might ask questions.
And last time _that_ happened was the summer of 2020 which is why they've been desperate to "return to normal".

#Corbyn's a loser. The only things he's ever won were his safe constituency seat, & the #Labour leadership.
He was a lifelong Eurosceptic leading an 80% pro #EU party. His "leadership" for Labour's Remain #Brexit campaign was beyond pathetic.
Jezza lost again to a deeply unpopular May, & the less we say about #GE2019, the better! 🙄

@jtonline @KimSJ Thing is, the average voter doesn't have the information - they just know what the meeja tell them (eg the BBC's support for #brexshit) and they haven't read the hundreds or thousands of pages of evidence that are available to the politicians. (OK, so not all the politicians have read every word either, but a fair number of them have read a fair amount of it.)

The #NHBC certificate isn’t worth the paper it’s written on…as we found to our cost when the Dragon (my late mother) moved into a new build flat.
Within a few weeks of the completion of the building of just ten flats, one of her balconies leaked into flat below and the #NHBC couldn’t give a toss 🤬

OK, I'm not negating the likelihood, but that's all circumstancial evidence.
Besides, the plans had been drawn up more than a decade ago, I read, and the opportunity would have been too good to let it slip away, from a militarystrategic point of view.From a legal point of view, the leaders of all 3 countries involved + the Houthies should be held responsible for breaking international law and/or crimes against humanity.

I think part of the problem is while prejudice is seen as unacceptable in some/many quarters, the practice continues almost unabated.... for all their pious talk, liberal men still for the most part remain (at times well-hidden) #sexists

@TCatInReality @ChrisMayLA6 @KimSJ I think there is a lot to roll back on International corporate courts like the #EnergyCharterTreaty - Katarina Pistor's The Code of Capital is a deeply depressing but essential read. The existing economic system is deeply entrenched and intertwined with values that we would hope to keep in some form such as keeping a notion of the rule of law without liiving in a #lawyeropoly
