Does anyone else remember Tux Racer, the old #Linux racing game from way back? Does anyone else also remember tuxracer.fubaby.com, where people would share their courses? Any way to download all the courses again? Sorry, but I want to upload all of them on the Internet Archive. I could only retrieve some of them from the Wayback Machine.

As an Internet Archive user, I scour the Web and turn up mainly software and computer data for preservation. For some time now, I have been trying to locate all the files that were ever uploaded to insaneheat.com and tuxracer.fubaby.com, two defunct fan sites for the racing games #1nsane and Tux Racer, respectively. If anyone has all the files stored somewhere, I would greatly appreciate it and remember to leave an attribution.

Playing #TuxRacer with my HMC Mini #Joystick from my electric #wheelchair. Thanks to my #DIY adapter box, which makes it possible to connect the joystick as a game controller to the PC via USB. The adapter makes use of an Arduino Leonardo to process the signals from the joystick. I programed the microcontroller myself and got some help from the people from the #KOLab #Makerspace for the wiring and development of the circuit.. A big thank for that!

After a couple of years of #Minecraft, my kid said he missed #TuxRacer, and luckily I just happened to have a freshly installed #Debian for him on an old #Dell Precision M6800. Good times.

@blindcoder Das ist wirklich schade, zumal sie den Umgang wahrscheinlich auch ganz ohne ihre Eltern gelernt hätte und frei von Datenerfassung wäre. Aber es ist einfach schon toll, dass sie einen ersten Kontakt mit #Linux gehabt hat. Vielleicht kommt sie irgendwann wieder, wen sie ihre Technologie-Entscheidungen selbst trifft. Der damals ~7-8-jährige Sohn von Freunden von mir wurde übrigens durch #TuxRacer zum großen Linux Fan. (Okay, seine Playstation mag er schon auch...)
