What are people's #thoughts on #RustDesk ?
It's a very divisive piece of #software It's certainly very feature rich and it's very responsive too when I tested it.
But a lot of people are worried by the #China #relays problem and I see a lot of seemingly knowledgeable people talking about some of the traffic being unencrypted.
So I wonder what the clued up #Fediverse thinks? I'm especially interested from an #infosec angle, since that's the area where many eyes count the most.

I'm always interested in everything. I sometimes talk about those and sometimes about #Matrix and sometimes about #Nostr
And i talk about #Mastodon and #Misskey there too. I just don't see the disconnections.
It's been that way in most of my life too. It was s problem when I was younger because I often came up with analogies people didn't like.
I tend to temper myself now because I realised some time ago most people don't like this #chaos but it gives me an #outlier #perspective.

In my experience #Tox, espcially #atox, is a lot more reliable (connectiivty wise) than the other two, though #cwtch is getting faster each time I try it

#Stromverbrauch, nur zur Erinnerung:
1 Watt Dauerleistung bedeutet 8,76 kWh / Jahr Verbrauch.
Mag nicht viel sein, auch in Geld. Aber stellt euch mal vor, umgerechnet jede/r 🇦🇹 (~ 9 Mio.) schafft es 1 Watt einzusparen, das wären dann 9 MW Dauerleistung oder ca. 79 GWh.
Bei den 🇩🇪 wären es ungefähr Faktor 10.Wenn man nun bedenkt, ein WLAN-Router braucht etwa 15 Watt, bei vielen 24/7. In der Nacht abschalten wer ihn nicht 24/7 braucht (ggf. via Zeitschaltuhr)?
Steckerleisten oder Schalter bei StandBy-Geräten und Augen auf beim Gerätekauf.Schaut man sich das mal konkret an, findet man durchaus etwas, da können gleich mal ein paar Watt zusammenkommen.
Die günstigste Kilowattstunde ist immer diejenige, die nicht gebraucht wird. 🤷♂️

Identifying hoverflies can be very tricky too.
This boldly-coloured one is very likely genus Xanthogramma, now renamed Philhelius.
Based on the dark wing patches, the yellow bar shapes, & frequency, I'd say P. pedissequum, the delightfully-named Superb Ant-hill Hoverfly.
But also perhaps P. dives or P. stackelbergi?

Our awesome Sticker Exchange, #StickerShare and our curated #stickerbox have been disassembled and will be stored safe and secure just to be dug out right before #40c3. We got a lot of nice feedback and thanks to generous donations we might be able to bring even more stickers next year. This year we gave away an estimate of 10 kg from the stickerpacks alone!

Defekte Steckerleiste auf der Platine des Kaffeevollautomat von WMF ausgewechselt. Eine der Schwachstellen der WMF 1000.
Nun noch den Stecker wechseln und die Maschine wieder zusammenbauen. -

Turns out my printer's power-outlet-bar (Steckerleiste) was melting. 😱
The thing is old but quite fancy:
90° outlets. Rated for 16A. Fitted with a 6.3A fuse that did NOT trip and an overtemp warning buzzer.Unfortunately they also added a switch. I hate those. Switches/etc in #powerstrip always become a bad contact and cause problems. Same here, again!

I'm watching the last couple episodes of Extraordinary Attorney Woo and they introduce a new character first seen with a #speedcube. And it's a real stickerless cube, not a crappy official Rubik's cube. But then I think, well, this is just a standard use of the cube as shorthand for "this character is a stereotypical nerd."
But wait! He has a least two cubes on his nightstand! Ok, we're getting somewhere.
And then he walks by this wall display in his bedroom.
