@EA7KRC I'd learn more about #SimpleLogin that #ProtonMail includes in their plans before exposing your new login name to other third party service providers

I just realized the #SimpleLogin Android app hasn't had an update in quite a while (years).
an entirely different story with #Addyio app... interesting -

I've been a user of #Simplelogin before #Proton bought it. Today, I'm deeply disappointed with @[email protected] @simplelogin because they disabled my account without warning. It has been 3 hours now since I contacted them and still no reply. It was a grave mistake to rely on them.

@constancies The only truly good thing in the Proton ecosystem is #SimpleLogin, which isn't even developed by Proton. They just bought it up. And you can use it with any other email provider anyway.

Also z.B.
I've been happy with #SimpleLogin for quite a while now. They recently joined #Proton which I think is a good thing but some have concerns with their CEO.

Did someone tried to selfhost #simplelogin ?
I have some issue with it... Apparently, when I try to register an account, when I click on the button, there is an issue because it keeps saying that there is no SSL while on the page before the cert was there 🤷♂️
If someone has an idea?
Boosts welcomed 🙏

I spent the weekend setting up #SimpleLogin, a tool that allows me to create unique email addresses when signing up for things online or offline.
I've wanted to implement a tool like this into my digital security for a while. Now to start migrating all my logins.

A #privacy question about @simplelogin ... if I use #aliases and #ReverseAliases, the service is great but domains (even premium) are sometimes rejected because detected as "disposable".
So I use my own domain (let's call it dom.be) and I register it on #simplelogin. By doing that, I can enjoy #simplelogin service and not be seen as using a disposable mail service.
But then, my domain is "exposed": a malicious counterpart might decide to expose dom.be everywhere and start spamming stuff like "[email protected]", "[email protected]", etc?
Domain is registered under my name, so anonymity is lost too?
Am I going too far? Is there a best way to do this?

@leberschnitzel I've gone one step further and added an auto-create alias for my custom domain in the #SimpleLogin web app (https://simplelogin.io/docs/custom-domain/manage-domain/) that lets me give out any working #email address as long as it has "nospam" at the beginning or end.
That way, I don't have to open @simplelogin's app to give a local business a unique address; I can just tell it to them verbally, write it on their sign-up sheet, or enter it at a #PointOfSale terminal like those made by #Square, #ToastTab, etc.

How I use @simplelogin
Its forwarding feature allows for multiple emails (that I so far haven't seen elsewhere). I took advantage of this and set up to have emails I receive from my #SimpleLogin email to be forwarded to my Zoho Mail, Proton Mail, and Google Mail accounts.
This allows me to have a backup of the emails I received in case I can no longer access one email account (for whatever reason), or I [accidentally] deleted the email and emptied my trash, only to find out later I need it again.
It requires some discipline, too. I regularly check each email account and review the emails.
Since the public-facing email address is a SimpleLogin email, I can also reply or send an email from any of the three accounts I am using, with no problems at all (a very rare feature in disposable email services).
This is good. For example, if I am at work where mobile gadgets are not allowed, and they blocked Gmail or Protonmail or Zoho Mail, and I need to send a quick email, at least one of those email services is guaranteed to not be blocked (usually it's only Gmail).
No, I don't work for #SimpleLogin nor am I affiliated with them.

I would like to thank @valere for providing a bunch of FOSS to preserve privacy at https://hostux.network including #simplelogin, #privatebin, #kutt, #piped, etc.

@protonmail @simplelogin @gyarbij Another big plus to Anonaddy is PGP encryption from the forwarding server to you. It’s a bit surprising protonmail opted to buy #simplelogin instead of #anonaddy considering they could have integrated the anonaddy PGP feature w/ #protonmail’s server.

Do you do #inbox #springcleaning? Start using #SimpleLogin and disable/delete every alias if it starts receiving #spam. Next spring, your cleaning will take care of itself:

Besides protecting your real email address when receiving spam, #SimpleLogin also protects you when sending emails to recipients you don’t fully trust. We call this functionality reverse-alias, and this is how it works: https://youtu.be/VsypF-DBaow

If you are or have been a #LastPass user, we recommend changing the email addresses you had used for the accounts affected, and replacing them with SimpleLogin aliases. This way, even if it turns out a particular account of yours was compromised, at least you don't need to change your main email address too.

@gyarbij @simplelogin @protonmail One thing you might notice is that “Received:” headers are dropped. It’s a big anti-feature for me because I always want to know if a sender is using gmail or outlook so I know if the potentially sensitive msg was shared with a surveillance advertizer. #Anonaddy preserves that info so you know the originating MX server.
