👌 Nice to have these #PrivacyBrowser settings when clicking in some links people share here.

And the sadness is, Google Maps used to work fine without #Javascript.
I think most web developers (especially Google) have the smarts to build pages that build gracefully depending on browser capability: Showing content first, then style, and finally adding behaviour with Javascript. Content and style is the easy part, make sure it's there first.
So why don't they? Do the client specs require #Javascrippled content so they'll get surveillance?
(Added some #AltText, BTW)

Am I wrong about these? (Edit: yes) Anyone know of others?

@privacybrowser Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to enjoying #PrivacyBrowser on #Linux as well 😀 Thank you for your amazing work and best wishes for 2023.

@Khrys @tofeo
#Firefox : aïe mes yeux

@okpierre
This is often an issue if you use a #privacyBrowser like #TorBrowser. Even #Pleroma suffers from this.In the cases that we've seen its because the browser doesn't support #svg images that are often used for such #icons.
There are ways around it, such as #unicode symbols or simply a #PNG version. You may need to fork the project to implement it if devs are unwilling to cater to the needs of #privacy conscious users.

And if you thought: just activate #javascript and allow #cookies, lower #security and #privacy, so the site will let me download time tables?
Yeah, about that.
These #webdevs did something really sneaky. They powered their #webforms with a very old version of #ASPNet. So the forms work only in very special web browsers. If you happen to prefer #Stoutner's #PrivacyBrowser, no downloads for you!
Unless you already know this page:

Twice in the last five minutes my @privacybrowser has run into websites displaying a banner "This site works best with #Javascript enabled." Of course, the sites didn't work AT ALL with Javascript deactivated.
Ironically, one site had been redone by a firm specializing in #Accessibilty for conformance with #AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and #WCAG standards. You'd think they'd use language like "activated" and "deactivated" for software instead of "en/disabled".

Ahem. You're a former candidate who did not get elected. There's no failure in that.
@smkellat
@alpacaherder.bsky.social(Can't open that Blue Sky link with #Fedilab or #PrivacyBrowser, even with Javascript turned on. Makes me wonder what they're doing with their code)

@thrillfall @thorcik @fdroidorg @Codeberg
It is on us as FLOSS community to find solutions and to help. You can use the browsers provided by #divestos
https://divestos.org/apks/official/fdroid/repo/Other browsers, like #privacybrowser, are still available on fdroid.
Moreover, as long as the fdorid folks do this on voluntary basis withe adequate warnings they are by better than many others. Thanks fdroid, keep rocking.

I'm not sure those browser usage stats are accurate. I use @privacybrowser on my phone and #Firefox (with multiple profiles) on the desktop. My #PrivacyBrowser emits "UserAgent: Chrome on Android", and the various desktop profiles lie about their UserAgent too.
Why? Because websites are back to "This site works best with Chrome; please update to a modern browser."
To which I say "No, you broken website. Get yourself a competent web developer."

Yay for using #Javascript for page behaviour enhancement, without #JavascriptDependence! https://matrix.org works great on #PrivacyBrowser with Javascript and cookies turned off.

So I thought I'd provide a link to the Darkrnet Diaries website and the podcast feed URL, but the website doesn't display in @privacybrowser probably because the website is Javascript-dependent, or #Javascrippled. So there's an inaccessible dark pattrern that makes me never want to visit again.
How do people with screen readers deal with that?
