A couple years ago I switched from Obsidian to LogSeq because it has org-mode support OOTB. I really am only using for it's syncing capabilities across devices and availability of mobile apps. It is a far from perfect experience, but the pain is hardly noticeable if you predominantly edit the files in org-mode like me. logseq.com

The "theft of intellectual works" of the entire planet is just a logical continuation of capitalism.

"We" were quite cool with the theft of entire nations, peoples and their resources. The Ai theft is just a cherry on top...

... Besides (C) copyright is a #capitalist infestation, the original Copyright was only 14 years (1710) after which, the intellectual property passed into public domain. The communists did not recognise IP at all.

Hard to "steal" something thats public.

Do you have any thoughts on the #permacomputing movement/ethos?

I haven't looked too deep into their software and programming languages, but I strongly identify with the "my solar-powered laptop from 2006 works fine, get off my lawn M$"-part of their philosophy.

they're the kinda people who use dithered images on their websites to save on storage, bandwidth and energy

  8. @chiply @petrillic Unfortunately, the syntax #logseq is producing in Org-mode setting is far from being the same as how #Emacs is creating syntax elements: karl-voit.at/2024/01/28/logseq

Reading logseq files in Org-mode is probably fine. Modifying Org-mode generated/modified content in logseq most probably has some issues.

I've set up #logseq for my wife, now as logseq is going south (adding DB, losing org support, unclear future of file (sync) access,...) and I do have a medium-sized conversion problem with her data. 😞

It's better to start with #Orgmode right away: karl-voit.at/2020/01/20/start-

Patching time! The hyperbolic language aside, this is real and your productions systems are likely affected.

  15. Printing some nonsense in a gold silk PLA because ... literally I have no idea why I bought this PLA. I think it looked more interesting in photos. Time to print some Gridfinity and other kinds of storage containers.

  16. That thing where you send something to the printer then think... wait... did I leave something on the build plate?

People will die because of this. Trump and his cabal are directly responsible for those deaths. They like that. They love killing people. The poorer and less white the better, but really, as long as they die, they get their rocks off.

  18. I've been using @stargirl's pretty Witch Hazel to see if maybe I can deal with a dark theme with my specific vision challenges. So far, excellent. And pretty.

  21. Always uncomfortable watching security teams make excuses why they can’t resolve security issues in their systems.

  23. I have no belief that it’s correct. But it’s easier to get people to disagree with you than it is to get them to offer their opinion in the first place. Also, it provides some structure to the conversation.

  24. Well 3y strategic plan out for comment. Let the tomato tossing commence.

  25. Mind you, my main contribution in that era was one of the earliest "online" travel applications written for internal Apple use. I'd argue it's still easier to use than anything on the web. We basically fronted SABRE with a full Mac OS experience. #appletalk #globaltalk

  26. With all the people playing with #appletalk and #globaltalk, I'm reminded of when I worked for Apple in the early 1990s, in the "pre IP" days when we ran a global AppleTalk network where you could mount a file server from Cupertino in London. Slowly.

    It was a time.
