Reading news from non-RSS websites
For many years now, I’ve stayed up to date with the news by reading an RSS news feed. If you’re not familiar, RSS is a standard way for web sites to make their news stories available in a predictable format. People who want to read that news then install software that can read that format, and display it in a browser or wherever. Early on, I used a now-defunct Google service called Reader. From about 2013 thru 2020, I used a “Freemium” newsreader app – InoReader. For casual users, just starting out, that’s still a great free option. But around the time of the pandemic, I started moving towards self-hosted apps for things like this, and so I installed and started using FreshRSS...

On the subject of anti-social networks: I organize a free, fun, social bike ride in my home town. Today, I posted two things on NextDoor.com to get the word out with my neighbors: 1 - an event announcing our next ride, and 2 - a post doing the same thing (because I fear not everyone reviews the event list.
I came back a while later, and someone has posted a negative comment, basically blaming cyclists for all the ills of the world ans also reported my posts as Spam, which immediately took them offline. I have to assume one person did both things.
Thanks very little to the neighbor who did this. Instead of messaging me, you made me waste time posting things nobody will see now. 😡 ND.com offers an appeals process but we'll see how that works next...

I got to see #Fishbone and #DeadPioneers last night. It was lots of good and a little bad. The good was the bands and the music and the nutso Colorado fans, of course. Fishbone played the songs from their 40-year old first LP, In Your Face, and that was so good. DP played 3 (I think) songs from their new release (due out in June).
The bad was DP was missing their lead guitarist, Abe, as he's on tour with RKL. Josh Brennan did a really solid job though covering for him; it was just not as heavy as when they have 2 guitars.
And, Fishbone's sound people and videographer were hovering around the stage the whole time and also couldn't seem to fix numerous hum and feedback issues. Kinda spoiled what would otherwise have been a great experience.
Hate to complain though, they're both legendary groups.
Bite me Bambi (from CA) opened and were solid ska/punk ala No Doubt.

I just started playing Wreckfest, from Bugbear. If anyone has any beginner tips, I would appreciate hearing them. I am coming off of playing Flatout 23 berfore this and already, I see lots of differences. Cheers,
