    > no one needs a build system
    is wrong. That is like "no one needs hospitals, just early diagnosis". That is not true. You need a build system to guarantee a secure environment and big and cheap throughput. #Packit would do half of the things without a build system.

    Fedora is ~20000 packages. (the tool to autopackage directly from upstream) covers (I don't really know) let's say a 1000. Fedora gating (gating via a working rpm buiild) covers let's say 500.

    This means everything else still uses direct push to dist-git as a main packaging step without verification. Until we change it, that's our pipeline.

    I haven't said anything about what should be in the gate.

    If your project and your upstream ABC-gate is good enough, you can make BC gate to be empty or fully automated and merge on success of the autogenerated spec-file without a human review.

    This is literally what does.

    But you can not argue with the fact that the there is a transformation of the artifact there. And when there is a transformation - there is a gate.

    Whether to use this gate or to bypass it - is a choice.

    📢 The Packit team wants to let all its users know that the cluster, where the source-git service was running, has sadly been shut down.

    Kun Mastodon saa käyttöön julkiset listat / starter packit ominaisuutena, koko oma itse koodaamani lista jää tarpeettomaksi: mementomori.social/suomalaiset

    Koko listanihan alunperin syntyi siitä, että
    1) Mastodonin listoja ei voinut tehdä julkiseksi
    2) Jaoin aiemmin csv-tiedostoa alkuun pääsemiseksi ja sain vihaista palautetta, että jaoin jonkun nettinimimerkin ilman lupaa (vahvat Twitterin listagate-vibat tuli tästä)

    Itse uskon vakaasti suostumukseen, mutta netti toimii opt-out periaatteella ja on ilo nähdä että Mastodoninkin kehitys on mennyt siihen suuntaan. Eli mieluummin niin päin, että poistun itse tarvittaessa kuin niin, että jokaisen pitää erikseen laittaa jokainen ominaisuus päälle. Kun vain murto-osa tajuaa laittaa ominaisuudet päälle, ei niistä ole mitään hyötyä kenellekään.

    Ehkä tämän tulevan listatoiminnallisuuden myötä ollaan vähemmän äkäisiä siitä, että julkinen profiili löytyy julkiselta listalta. Mielestäni on käsittämätön ajatus, että julkisia viestejä ei pitäisi löytyä mistään. Kirjoita privana tai mene yksitysiin kanaviin, jos löydettävyys huolettaa.
