I just added a colorful feature to my free NYC buildings app: a kind of noiseometer! Each building has one of 10 colors, according to how many 311 Noise complaints were submitted in the last 12 months. There’s also a setting for Heat/Hot Water complaints.
My thought is that this might be useful for someone looking to move in the five boroughs. In any case, this update gives the app some much-needed color!

Fear of the email from a user telling me that something is missing, or incorrect, or somehow not right, is a huge factor in keeping me from releasing software.
But my friend gave me great advice (I paraphrase): “That email is good news! It means someone is using your app, and cares enough about it to tell you what's wrong. Now you can use that intel and add/fix/whatever, and the app will be that much more useful to people.”
