@oh_that_courtney I ripped out a brinks alarm unit (subscriptions, yuck) and replaced it with a konnected system. That lead me to Home Assistant. Still trying to figure out how to get the alarm to work, hah. And to learn what else I can do with the application.

Also to note that 2020 White House #votersuppression pressures were applied to similar demographics in must have #electoralcollege states. This #library suppression strategy also reeks of #JimCrow

I told my team today that one of my Thanksgiving plans is to listen to the full ~20 min Alice's Restaurant Massacree. I got almost entirely nothing but blank stares.
(The one exception was a person who said they have a friend who actually knew Alice and had planned a visit -- but plans changed due to Alice's recent death.)

I created the #CodeForAmerica Brigade in #Austin. As I reconnect to the #civicTech community, it greatly saddens me to see what has become of CfA.
It's not completely unexpected: ten years ago civic tech was groundbreaking and fundable. That all disappeared along with the Obama presidency.
Still, it's sad to see CfA transition from a community-focused organization to a union busting consultancy.

I'm far enough along in my #civicHacking project to tell you the working title is "APL Event Finder". It will provide advanced search and notifications for events at the #Austin Public #Library.
The two core microservices have MVP implementations. This weekend I'll start on the UI. That'll be fun. Haven't done significant front-end work in years. (Last time I did I used knockout.js ... 'member that?)
