  2. So, I’m thinking about some kind of solution to selfhost or implement that would allow us to receive things like RSS feeds or news from Telegram channels. To be clear, when they shut down international traffic, there is no way to connect using normal protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, etc.
Do you have any ideas about this?

  3. During the complete internet blackout in Iran, one of the most important things we missed was a way to receive news. The blockage still continues, it’s a little easier now to access the international internet, but it is still whitelisted.

  6. We have scaled up "Pendulums" server so that it can serve more than 13,000 users more smoothly

  7. When we launched Pendulums v0.1.0 on January 15, 2018, we never imagined reaching around 13k users. What began as a fun project arose from our need for user-friendly and free to use software for small startups like ours.
Today, there are many free and open-source alternatives to Toggl, including Pendulums.
We hope to maintain and improve "Pendulums" for another 7 years, with your continued support and enthusiasm. Thank you all for being part of our journey!

  9. We are investigating to migrate to Deno or Bun for "Pendulums 2.0" and we will opensource it at early stages so you can selfhost it.

  10. is raising funds for their new project , which is a set of web components. Their goal is set to $30,000, and they've received $412,000 so far. With this huge amount of fund, it doesn't make sense to me that they are also providing some "pro" components to monetize the project more.

  14. I just started to create a simple GeoIP microservice using Geolite2 database and standard library. I'm really surprised that Deno is much faster than Node in a simple API like this.

  15. We had a problem in our email service provider which caused a lot of the emails sent from Pendulums being rejected as spam. So many users had problems when signing up and requesting password recovery for 3 months, which is a shame, and we are sorry for that. It's now fixed. We also applied a better email audit to detect and fix these problems earlier.

  16. WOW! I see so much rise in active users in pendulums.io. We are going to reach 10,000 registered users and around 380 monthly active users. Today I noticed twice load than normal on the server, so we might need to upgrade the server.

  17. Don't apply architecture unless you have a project with multiple frontends and tens of thousands of lines of code and multiple developers who can handle the complexity of the connection between those microservices. It just brings a lot of headaches!

Don't go with architecture unless you are granualizing your modules well from the starting point and you know the scalability needs of your services.

  20. 1/ Recently, I installed workout manager on my own server. It looks nice to me with a lot of great features and a mobile app. After a few days, I found some breaking bugs and missing features. So I started contributing to the code and got a good support from the project maintainer...
