Yes, so much of my reading (and a fair amount of my living) has been based somewhere in Asia. There are commonalities between the different cultures as well as significant differences. The book isn't on #Scribd, where I access most of my reading material so it may take me a while to get to it.

@30yrdscreamer @mlawton Chelsea were absolutely horrible last night but were missing five starters to injury. Still, Rosenior starting a back five was foolish and left them short on the pressure. Which resulted in all the #BHA chances.
Can any manager other than maybe Emery get joy from this squad, especially given the youngsters already signed for this summer?

Oh, that was a lovely book! The magical realism was fascinating to me. I'll have to see if the movie is somewhere that I can easily access it.

Text from my sister, visiting our parents and doing saintly work.

Pretty much perfect spring weather, so I’m working on the back deck. Noticed movement in my peripheral vision and spied this tiny jumping spider furtively sneaking closer for a peek at my setup.

A small waterfall along Little Stony Creek.

This afternoon, fulfilling a Mother’s Day request a day early, the family hiked the Cascades in Pembroke, VA. The trail transits up Little Stony Creek to this fantastic set of falls. We had the fortunate timing of being there not long after heavy rains. Perfect weather for it too.

Took the day off to head up to Natural Bridge State Park with my wife. Pictures don’t really do justice to how massive it is.
Then there are the Blue Ridge Mountains, always gorgeous. Will return to Skyline Trail later this summer, as it’s an official International Dark Sky viewing location. Perhaps in August for the Perseid meteor shower season.

What a crushing turn of events for #NFO... soft penalty awarded and subsequently saved, then an OG off Yates 60 seconds later.

PSG are a hot mess defensively. Conceded an even-numbered counter to go down 3-0. Perhaps they mentally relaxed, thinking they’d beaten the difficult teams and they’d wax Chelsea.
Massive upset in the works.
-
Dear god, now Chelsea is up 2-0. What has happened to PSG’s defending?!?
-
Chelsea blitzing and exposing PSG, going up 1-0 midway through the first half is the perfect example of why I don’t bet on sports.
-
Chelsea playing a strong lineup, but their defending, especially headed balls back across the face of goal... has been shocking in the second half. 👀
Conceded two goals in 4 minutes. Immediately after conceding the second, Nicolas Jackson gets a straight 🔴 for a textbook studs up challenge high up the leg. Indefensible. He'd just subbed on and was on the pitch for 4 whole minutes.

Tonight, Arsenal had 3.14 xG and scored only 1 goal. In the first leg of the tie, they had 1.63 xG and couldn't score.
That's absolutely toothless.
-
Saka scores after a [correct] no call and a bungled pass/clearance. Game on? Still need two goals in 13+ minutes.

Hakimi with the 🗡️ after some lackadaisical attempts to clear the ball.

Can't say #AVL didn't have chances to pull off the massive comeback. They will rue both Konsa's missed header and Asensio missing when in alone on goal. Huge save off the line to seal it at the death.
I still say 3 minutes of stoppage time feels match-fixy and I don't have a vested interest.

My god, that strike from Duran! 30 yards out and nothing but top bins against Pickford. #fedifc #mastodonfc #AVLEVE

I also thought Horan and Lavelle were largely ineffective. Whether it was the suffocating Japanese formation or just fatigue, it caused difficulties in linking up the forwards.
So much possession & so many passes, but lots of working it around the back. It’s naturally going to be a byproduct of playing against a 5-4-1, but when there were breaks, heavy touches & inaccurate passes scuttled such promise.
Good teams find ways to endure the suffering and come out on top. #usent good enough, today.

Man City are far and away the better team and deserve the win, but with their quality it should have been a rout. I'm not sure what conclusion to draw since it wasn't, except that it's a shame that it came down to a slip and fall by the last defender.
I was sure KDB would come on at 70' and take over. But not needed, apparently.

Comfortable win for #LFC and no injuries, which is the critical bit. Some loose passing and lapses in concentration when the game was no longer in doubt. Klopp surely won't like that.
Gomez, Endo, Elliot, and Gakpo were all excellent.
Hats off to the #LASK supporters who were singing loudly the entirety of the match.
