  11. In this latest thrilling saga of "Rust #vs #C," we're treated to a riveting tale of #industrial #microcontrollers that's about as exciting as watching #paint dry 🎨. The article somehow stretches a simple choice into a 2604-word #debate that feels longer than a tax code 📜. Spoiler alert: you won't find any groundbreaking revelations here, just another exercise in overcomplicating the obvious 🙄.

  15. RPROM: 7-fold Kickstart switch now available in store

RPROM, developed by Niklas Ekström and Per Bengtsson, is a ROM emulator for the Amiga 500, 600 and 2000 models based on the RP2350B microcontroller. For those who don’t want to solder it themselves, RPROM is now also available as a ready-made product at the title link.

  16. DIY: RPROM is a ROM emulator for 16 bit Amiga computers (A500, A600, A2000) based on the RP2350B microcontroller.

The RPROM board has a 4 MB SPI flash memory. Each ROM image is 512 kB in size, and therefore the 4 MB is divided into 8 slots of 512 kB each. The first slot is dedicated to store code and configuration data for the RP2350B. The seven remaining slots are used to store ROM images.

  17. It wooooorks. Well, mostly.

A more clever me would have broken out the 5V line for USB power since it already has a 3.3V voltage regulator -- had to get another regulator for the breadboard to connect to my laptop. Also, finally figured out how to make my own bootloader variant and configure the microcontroller pins.

Everything seems to be working so far. However, 3 of the 40 hall effect sensors are giving me weird values/unresponsive. Perhaps maybe I damaged them during the soldering process?

  22. It is good to sometimes go back to the basics and hand assemble some prototypes. It took me about two full days to assemble and partially test these. When using the Pick and Place machine I can assemble about 1k units in that time 😭(it takes several days to set up the machine so it makes little sense for early prototypes, and I don't have them on panels anyways…) #microcontrollers #debugging #development #PCB #assembly #SMT

  23. Right, last #Hackster round-up of the month 'cos I've hit my 78-article budget a day early. Word of warning: today's three are all things to spend money on, so lock your wallets away now.

First, two new ePaper driver boards with your choice of Espressif ESP32-S3 or Nordic nRF52840 microcontrollers in 'em.
