Just published two new #greasemonkey scripts to scratch a long-standing itch.
When working with #pullrequests on #Github, I like cleanly separated small commits. I then review commit-by-commit, but github does not show on comments what commit it was made against. My script adds this info automatically when adding a comment.
The second script just adds e.g. "3 / 5" when viewing the 3rd commit in a 5-commit PR, to see how far along I am :-)

Just #released a new version of the "Rabobank auto-input" greasemonkey script: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/5072-rabobank-internetbankieren-auto-input
This is a small #greasemonkey script that runs in your browser to add an account number selection interface to the #Rabobank login screen, for those who prefer using the Rabo Scanner over their app, and have more than one Rabobank account (such as private and company in my case).
Changes today are just updating to Rabo web app HTML changes that broke the script a few weeks ago....

Zojuist op mijn blog een #spreadsheet gepubliceerd waarmee je je eigen #inkomstenbelasting, #zorgtoeslag en #pensioenruimte kunt betekenen. Werkt zowel voor ondernemers als mensen in loondienst (maar garantie tot aan de deur).
Ik gebruik deze spreadsheet al sinds 2010 (sindsdien elk jaar geüpdatet en uitgebreid), maar er zijn vast meer mensen die dit soort dingen willen begrijpen of vooraf uitrekenen.

@DianaW @BjornW Ik overwoog een jaar of 2 terug over te stappen naar de #triodos, maar die waren toen al hun identifiers aan het uitfaseren, dus je kon alleen klant worden en inloggen met een iOS of Android-app (*met* Google closed-source GMS erop, alleen open source Android / AOSP / lineage was toen niet genoeg). Gek genoeg konden zakelijke klanten nog wel een nieuwe identifier aanvragen (nu nog steeds), dus blijkbaar houden ze de hele infrastructuur daarvoor nog wel in de lucht...

@matthijskooijman not sure whether #label getting off in #dishwasher is a #feature, not a #bug. It will stuck on exit #water filter and make trouble, at least that was experience when similar label went off in mine. I don't put #jars in dishwasher anymore for that reason. I wish there was proper recycling for these jars and #lids ...

I wondered about #rootless containers (#Podman / #Docker and found explanations how this uses user namespaces, but I was missing explanation of interactions with other namespaces (you need root to create namespaces, to do that rootless?).
I then found https://rootless.vagmi.ca implementing rootless containers from scratch and explains it very well. The user_namespaces manpage is also good to read and fills in some missing bits: https://man.archlinux.org/man/user_namespaces.7.en

@luc For this server, I am using #duplicity (wrapped in #duply). Originally, it used #restic, but the pruning ended up using too much RAM (but restic has improved this, and I've upgraded from a 4GB system to 32GB since then, so maybe I'll switch back to restic or #borgbackup sometime soon, since I found out that duplicity does not back up ACLs...).
I'm also still using restic (with a custom script) for my laptop backups, and borg (with borgmatic) for some other servers/raspberry pis.

Matt Parker dives into the equation that is used to calculate the current US import tariffs. Interesting to see that the calculation makes some sense at first glance, but is also way oversimplified, a bit weird and mostly totally inconsistent with all the rest of the messaging around the tariffs. Recommended watch!

@jelv Over #Adyen las ik idd dat je voor een account eerst een gesprek met een adviseur moet hebben, dus een omzetdrempel past daar wel bij.
#Buckaroo lijkt op het eerste gezicht wel laagdrempelig (mogelijk een minimum van €5 per maand voor een "iDeal-bundel", maar dat zou voor ons nog wel op te brengen zijn). Zo te zien ook nog een Nederlands bedrijf, dus wellicht de moeite waard.
Iemand ervaring met Buckaroo?

Just discovered #Adebar (https://codeberg.org/izzy/Adebar), a nice set of scripts for #Android app #backup and restores.
I spent the evening upgrading my phone from #LineageOS 20 to 22.2 (the latest supported by my #s10e This needed a data wipe, so I backed up my relevant files and settings.
I had some script snippets from before, but Adebar made this more convenient by backing up apk's, making adb backups (for what it's worth...) and making app backup tarballs with root (which worked for most apps).

Watched the 4th of may Dutch remembrance of the dead ceremony today, for the first time in many years. Made me cry throughout thinking of all the utterly pointless suffering that war has inflicted on so many people, especially since the suffering is repeated in so many places today.... #endallwars #dodenherdenking2025
Looking at the remembrance, I did wonder why the soldiers present actually need to bring their weapons, it would IMHO send a better messag if they came unarmed...

TIL that #golang interfaces have two different nil values (typed and untyped nil). This is a bit confusing, but I can see the value (https://www.jerf.org/iri/post/2957/ argues this and has details).
But I do not understand the language designers chose to make the "contains a typed nil" case not equal to nil.
This can make:
if (x != nil) { x.Foo() }
cause a segfault (inside Foo) because it gets called with a nil pointer (full code: https://go.dev/play/p/2SeoJj2Go_l)
Anyone know the rationale behind this #footgun?

Did some more hacking on our dismantled EV charger at #HackadayEurope today (while watching a lot of cool presentation).
We tried to get the tangle of charger parts we brought into a functional state (at least let the software think it is functional). So we made a small PCB to emulate a cable and car, faked the kwh meter using python, connected some 230V to the right places, but still kept complaining about a "Phase error". Out of options for today, but happy with the progress we made :-)

Unfortunately, our #DNS provider #Transip does not allow #DNAME records, so the practical use for us (community at https://dewar.nl) is zero (unless we migrate to another provider that supports them, but maybe too much hassle there).
I contacted Transip about this and they were not planning on adding support, but maybe if more people ask about this?
So are you using Transip and would DNAME records be useful for you (for #DKIM) or otherwise, do send them a message about this!

TIL about #DNS #DNAME records, which are like CNAME records, but then allow forwarding an entire DNS subtree to another name or domain.
This seems perfect for forwarding #DKIM records, e.g. have _domainkey.example.com forward to _domainkey.example.net so both share the same set of mailservers. Using DNAME allows a single record, instead of one record per DKIM selector with CNAME (which does not scale).
What's weird is that this approach does not seem to be mentioned anywhere wrt DKIM?

This weekend I finally got around to releasing v5.0.0 of the Arduino LMIC (https://github.com/mcci-catena/arduino-lmic). This is an independent very lightweight implementation of the basic LoRaWAN protocol, originally done by IBM Zurich, then curated for many years by Matthijs Kooijman. 1/

TIL that #simyo (mobile provider) actually supports #ipv6 on their network, but it does not seem to be enabled by default in the APN config (which lives on the SIM, right?).
This 4y old forum thread (https://forum.simyo.nl/internet-4g-en-5g-62/wat-is-de-status-van-de-ipv6-uitrol-44316) said the same, assuming it was only enabled for new customers, but I only subscribed a few months ago.
To enable ipv6 on Simyo: Settings -> Network & Internet -> SIMs -> Select SIM -> Access Point Names -> Select APN -> APN (roaming) protocol: IPV4/IPV6. Then reboot.

Het verhaal is dat ze kosten maken voor "due diligence" voor "high risk" organisaties en dat ze die maar op de hele categorie klanten gaan verhalen.
In de praktijk klinkt het me ook alsof ze kleine klanten liever kwijt dan rijk zijn, omdat ze weinig opbrengen, maar onze kosten stijgen nu van €15 tot €290 per jaar, wat natuurlijk helemaal uit proportie is...
En ik was juist zo blij met #Mollie, ook omdat het een Nederlands bedrijf is en ik helemaal gen zin heb in iets als #Stripe of #Paypal...

Wie heeft goede ervaring met een betalingsprovider met ideal en Sepa incasso's die ook op kleine schaal betaalbaar is?
Voor een musicalvereniging gebruiken we nu #Mollie voor donaties en kaartverkoop. Dat ging altijd goed (lage kosten per transactie, geen vaste kosten), maar sinds kort heeft Mollie minimum van €20 p/mnd kosten voor "high risk" organisaties zoals "goede doelen".
Er lijkt ook geen speelruimte te zijn, dus maar op zoek naar iets anders...

Spent some time behind the wheel again this week, which made me realise how much I did *not* miss driving. We sold our car 3 years or so ago and have been doing almost everything by bike and train since then, which I find so much more chill than all this hassle with traffic jams and speeding around at 100kmh hoping that everyone else is just as invested in your safety as you are :-)

I actually made some notes of my server recovery that might be interesting to others, but have place to publish them yet (too upolished and messy for my blog). Should probably (finally) up some #digitalgardening tool to publish raw notes (they are already in markdown, so that should not be too hard...)
