Grabbed a three month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online because....I promised I'd make my daughter some #MarioMaker2 levels.
I made a few for her when she was 3....but she's significantly more capable now and I both adore the game and tolerate her presence (I jest) so I guess it's a match made in heaven right?
Now I just need to find the 5-6 hours it usually takes to make a decent level.

#MarioMaker2 is a game that holds a deeply important place in my heart. I've got close to 300 hours in it, and from 2019 through early 2021 it was something I played most days....
But god damn #Nintendo.
If this game was made by a company that knew anything about the internet it might be my favourite game of all time.
Instead we got a company who's so apprehensive about the mere thought of online play that it's wings were clipped before it even left the nest.

I got massively into #MarioMaker2 a few years ago and I definitely have a thing for these sort of games. The difference now is that my daughter is a bit older and I'm hoping I might be able to show her some of my creations and watch as she gets a kick out of them.

This trailer for the fangame Super Mario Bros Remastered looks fucking *awesome*, however...
How many more times are we going to have to do this before people start to learn? How many more fangames are going to do this and get "cease and desisted" to death before the release before you figure out this is a bad idea?
No announce trailer months ahead of time. No Discord. Drop it somewhere with no credits. Game gets out there, stays alive and no one knows who to go after for it.
Also, how can you claim it is fully open source when you straight up use Nintendo's original artwork, assets and level designs?
