@lolzac @ramsey @dmnelson @scriptingosx Oddly, #Apple has not been terrible in keeping #perl somewhat recent on #macOS: #Ventura ships with v5.30.3 from 2020.
But most advise not messing with an OS or distro’s system runtimes, especially if you want to install or upgrade libraries and modules from #CPAN etc.
The two main Perl solutions are #perlbrew: http://perlbrew.pl
And #plenv (used to be my fave): https://github.com/tokuhirom/plenv

CW: Pain.
So I spent most of yesterday on my back because I had a flare-up of my rheumatoid arthritis that devastated me. Almost every joint hurt and I even had pain in the back of my thighs from the tendons there reacting to the inflammation in my knees.
I took a **lot** of T1s yesterday and it didn’t really do much other than take the edge off.
I thought I was better today but I appear to have some sort of T1 handover that is making me unfocused.

CW: Personal blog promotion and swears
Affiliate marketing and ad arbitrage are destroying content on the web. Except for sites like MacStories and others who avoid using them.

ADHD + debugging a shell script = “what else do I have to do?”
-
I did a search for ‘debug bash script’ and all I got back were a series of link to pray lines and a Swiss euthanasia clinic.

If you are on a Mac don’t forget that you can use glyphs in the SF Symbols font as a “NerdFont”. even works in the command line

There was a discussion about great boardgames and while it wasn't focused on hex-and-counter titles I did mention two.
What I did forget to mention was the Battalion Combat Series from MMP. Perhaps the most revolutionary title in come into the field since ASL.

I found this interesting.
According to 1Blocker, since I started using it, it has stopped more trackers than it has blocked ads. I would have thought there would be more ads blocked.

If you like something say something.
One thing I have noticed is that people seem to have brought habits from Twitter and Facebook with them to Mastodon. Likes, or starring as it is here, doesn't really do anything. There is no algorithm to feed data to.
So if you like a post someone made them comment on it. Start a discussion. I think people would rather hear from you than get a star.

Has anyone had any issues using Pastebot with apps like Alfred or Keyboard Maestro that have clipboard histories?

An exciting discovery this morning. I installed VSCodium on a whim as it is the FOSS variant of VS Code. Why devs would use an IDE from MS is beyond me. While fiddling with the extensions available I found Front Matter.
Holy sh*t!
It is a CMS for your SSG of choice that gives you a dashboard view of the content you are building and also lets you preview while editing. ‘

I found this quite fascinating. It certainly helps to explain how plants are so efficient with the energy they get and how they move it so quickly.
