Same for #HDDs, #SSDs, and #NVMEs btw.
I really think this shit needs to be:
a) Illegal internationally.
b) We need someone like the @EUCommission to come up with a plan to have our European companies as well as any company that is actually selling towards European Consumers (including smaller businesses) ramp up production.This shit is insanely stupid right now...

I tested out for a while Claude Cowork with Obsidian for job hunting. It was... a mixed bag, at best. Not terrible for most of the time, but never great.
The task I gave it was as follows:
- scan job boards such as indeed
- find english-speaking positions posted in the last 7 days in Germany or the Netherlands;
- ingest the job posting;
- research about the company;
- get the salary range or estimate based on market averages;
- identify gaps in my resume and points of attention;In the beginning I was using Claude Code instead of Cowork, and it sort of worked. Some job boards and websites blocked the requests, some data was incomplete or incorrect, but in general it... worked.
However, it:
- brought German-speaking positions more often than not (usually with the remark that "needs research if the company accepts English-speaking candidates");
- brought positions posted over a year ago;
- hallucinated positionsThen I started testing out Cowork, out of curiosity. Since then it was only downhill.
It scans the Obsidian vault to get the current context, then spawns agents to query the job boards, and before it starts summarizing a single position, usually my quota limit is reached and it drops in the middle telling me to wait until the quota is freed up again.
Then I wait, click "try again" and instead of picking up from where it was, it starts again the process, killing my quota again. And again.
I'm yet to go back to Claude Code and try to run it from there, probably it, at the very least, won't hang up in the middle due to quota issues, since it won't use the extended processing that Cowork allows it (assumedly, and by default if so).
Granted, I'm not using this as my sole source of information on job postings, I'm not yet ready to retire my brain and let the machine take over, but I still expected it to be more useful than it actually was.

Btw, sabotage is not only a word that is weirdly pleasant to say and write, but also some of the best search results I've ever seen.
The top results are when searching on @kagihq are:
1 - Wikipedia
2 - wikipedia in German
3 - Beastie Boys - Sabotage (excellent band, song and videoclip, 10/10)
4 - counterpunch... and shortly after we have the CIA's very relevant article on "The Art of Simple Sabotage" (https://www.cia.gov/stories/story/the-art-of-simple-sabotage/)

RE: https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/116574956580609051
That's why I don't hold it against the company when they revoke all rigths and accesses while the meeting is ongoing.
I am not stupid enough to do it, I know it, they know it... but there's always a non-zero chance you're dealing with a petty saboteur (I refuse to call "hacking" when someone purely misuses the rights that were provided to them, that is called sabotage), so standard procedure is to eliminate any risks.

I had quit Spotify long ago and more recently ditched Apple Music because I don't want to support the services that are squeezing the artists.
My replacement consists of two main elements:
1 - FM radio, like our ancestors used to do in when they lived in caves
2 - NTS Radio (https://www.nts.live/)I'm still procrastinating it, but will subscribe for the perks such as enhanced tracklists. I just wanted to spread the word in case someone is looking for alternatives.
Live radio, and especially radio that focuses on bringing diversity like NTS, is actually pretty refreshing.

Five episodes into Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and I can fully understand why it's ranked badly compared to other shows in the series.
They took the humour scenes from the first 2 series, which are sparse and usually involving the children, and really tried to make 50% of the episodes runtime a comedy skit. The antagonist seems to have half the brainpower of a yellow cat.
Guess I'll skip the remaining (44) episodes, watch Char's Counterattack > Unicorn > Hathaway, and then proceed with the series in release order.
At some point I'll go back and watch it.
Maybe. -

So... After 4 episodes of Witch Hat Atelier, I have only one comment on it: what an absolute masterpiece.
This is one of the once-every-5-years events that an anime should be an 11/10 in my books.
An anime that will force me to go to Anilist and choose some of the current 10/10 to be downgraded because they don't deserve to occupy the same space.
I really, really, REALLY hope it keeps up after setting this level of expectation.

Well, apparently things in the VC world are rougher than expected and it's time to start applying to jobs again.
If anyone knows of job openings for backend dev, preferably PHP, in Düsseldorf and region or remote, I'd be happy to have a chat.
I don't have a lot of experience with frontend to consider myself a full-stack dev, but honestly I can learn stuff pretty quickly when I have a specific need that compels me. :)

The good news: apparently the rapture happened (according to the voices in the head of some???)
The bad news: you’re still here, you weren’t chosen.
The best news: the Flying Spaghetti Monster accepts you for who you are. You deserve an extra-large serving of pasta.

I accidentally experimented yesterday with #genderless #fashion
I was dressing up in a hurry to go out yesterday, and saw that "my white sweater" (a Soufllé Yarn Half-zip Jumper) was folded in a place I didn't remember putting it.
When I wore it, it felt a bit longer than I remembered, and the neck also felt a bit different.
But still, I put it on, put on a jacket over it, and went on to meet my wife and run the errands we needed to run.All good so far, except, when we came back my wife and I had the following conversation:
Wife: "did you wear this?" pointing to "my jumper" which I had put on a hanger.
Me: "Yes, I was wearing it today, why?"
Wife: "Well, that's my wool dress"
Me: "Ha, no wonder it felt a bit longer than I remembered!"
Wife: "It fit you so well I didn't even notice until now!"I guess it's proven I can look good wearing a dress?

I just found out that the Anbernic retro consoles can also run the headless version of Dirtywave M8 Tracker.
That's the excuse I was missing to buy a Teensy 4.1 and get on with it.
I am really curious what other stuff I can do on the RG Cube XX (aside from playing old games).

@ibboard I'm thinking of going with Python, as I did for the half a dozen exercises from #AdventOfCode2022
It's sort of my comfort language, it seems :blobfoxfloofcofe: -
Trying not to complain (too much) about work, but it's been rough...
I can see that the pieces will soon start to fall, and I really don't want to be nearby when things really do explode.
If anyone knows of #dev #jobs either in/around Düsseldorf, or remote anywhere compatible with GMT-1, I'd be interested. Not looking for freelance, though.
Been working with #php and #symfony the last year or so, but I bring quite a bit of baggage and am flexible with regard to tech.
