  1. @jyasskin Off topic: Not what you're looking for but in case of minor interest, and perhaps with a broader view on "accessible" to both humans and machines, see w3.org/TR/ldn/linked-data-noti

You can try input format #RDFa with the URI above and output to whatever e.g., graphviz.

What interests to me about this information embedding/extraction.

That said, perhaps I can propose an update to improve the accessibility tree on that SVG.

  6. @jyasskin Thanks! At least some information what is going on. Couldn't find any information on my own and especially nothing in German or related to ALDI music. They're still offering their music plans like everything is fine!

  11. @jyasskin Well that's grim. (And super-interesting, thanks!)

And thus the circle of #hegemony continues?

For social systems, the pull of network effects & preferential attachment [1] does seem very strong. But for #OpenSource software (& now, some hardware) resting on western contract & IP law, ecosystem effects really have allowed a grand diversification & proliferation. Capitalism & hegemony can leverage but hasn't fully co-opted this ecosystem.

  12. I've moved from toot.cafe/@jyasskin to hachyderm.io/@jyasskin, so here's an #introduction for my new account.

I work on #WebStandards for #Chrome, and to push my company to do better, I'm a member of the #AlphabetWorkersUnion. If you work at Alphabet, you should join too!

I love programming, but I don't get to do it much anymore. I was on the ISO C++ committee, but now I prefer #Rust for big projects and #TypeScript for small because #MemorySafety is important!

  16. On the article referenced in mastodon.design/@julieblanc/11, @julieblanc quoted a #TAG commentary
"Overall, we think #Masonry, #Grid, and wrapping #Flexbox should be incorporated into a unified set of properties. #Chrome’s [New Masonry Layout] proposal splits apart property sets too eagerly, but even the #WebKit [using CSS Grid] proposal seems to miss a chance to develop more-general properties. (…) #CSS currently has 3 layout modes (…): Grid, Multicol, and wrapping Flexbox. This is already causing a lot of author confusion, and Masonry attempts to add a 4th mode. As a general principle, having vastly different ways to accomplish slightly different things is a usability #antipattern. We urge the [CSS] W[orking] G[group] to explore ways to unify these so that authors can port more knowledge from one to the other (even if they are implemented as separate code paths internally). (Issue #1003 on w3ctag/design-reviews, comment on Nov 20, 2024, by #JeffreyYasskin /@jyasskin)

  20. RE: infosec.exchange/@0xabad1dea/1

that Marcus Aurelius, yes the Roman emperor, had a useful opinion about the Internet: "You are not compelled to form any opinion at all about this matter before you, not to disturb your peace of mind at all. Things in themselves have no power to extort a verdict from you."

  25. I hate AI-generated slides. Most #BlinkOn presenters have the sense not to use them, but the others generate extremely busy slides, in which I can't tell which text and images are actually relevant to the presentation, vs which are just fluff.

  26. I see the #Solid project is going great (sarcasm). I picked a host from solidproject.org/get_a_pod that hasn't pivoted to AI (cough #Inrupt cough), so solid.redpencil.io/. I created an account and tried to sign in from both dokie.li/ and solid.redpencil.io/ itself, and got a completely inscrutable and probably insecure confirmation screen:
