  1. @justsoup Have you tried to write anything in #ADA? I, coming from Turbo Pascal background, find it challenging due to nature of the API mostly.

#Rust kept #C++'s `::` and `.` for static vs instance accessors keeping code more readable. Simple function declarations and lack of headers makes development faster. In result use of modules is much easier.

Then one aspect often neglected in discussions is how easy is to write tests.

#Alire started only in 2018, while #Cargo exists from beginning.

I vaguely remembering going to install that on #UbuntuTouch years ago, and not liking that it said that installing it gave the app to everything on my system.

Maybe (almost) all apps on #UBports do this, but this and the fact that it seemed to have not been updated in ages put me off trying at the time.

That was a long time ago though.

  12. A year ago today, @justsoup and I created the lowendlibre project with the goal of lowering the bar for getting started with mobile linux, more specifically postmarketOS.

While it didn't quite go as we had initially hoped, it has been a net positive.

  17. Both #Mobian and #PostmarketOS (#Alpine #Linux) repositories block updates over #Tor, but so does GrapheneOS. However, it is possible to have onionized repositories with #Debian on #Termux.

proot-distro with alpine can install (apk add) #rust and #cargo. Just add the required libraries and #Arti is built! PostmarketOS is built on Alpine and, interestingly, "apks" and "sdks" derive from Alpine, not from Google.

I wonder if microG can be installed in PostmarketOS. The Tor Browser should install on mobile linux devices (whether #Posh or #Gnome, etc). Until then, you can modify the proxy settings in #Firefox to use Arti. Onionsites could also be accessed this way.

Xiaomi to będą świetne, niedrogie linuksfony :) Do #Reinstall i #Reuse.

#PlasmaMobile wymiata :)

  19. Będzie o sprzęcie #Apple, a konkretnie o #iPhone 6s. Stareńkim. Dlaczego?

Jeśli chcielibyście bym coś dla was dotestował: piszcie.

  22. I genuinely adore Alpine Linux. One of the main reasons I work on postmarketOS is because its based on Alpine. I think it is has a very well-designed base stack and I like musl. I actually ran Alpine Linux on my main machine for a bit before systemd was added to pmOS. I rarely have bad experiences with the developers and the community is generally kind. There's always some bad apples, like in all communities, but in general, Alpine's quite good.

  27. After writing my first real Go MR, I have to say: it is one of the languages of all time. It isn't bad, but I wouldn't say its all that good either. I'm sure there's niche use-cases for it, like heavy multi-threading or what-have-you. But, I just couldn't get around that it felt like C with a groucho mask on, even though it obviously isn't. And the compiler was abismal. Literally just "there's an error" and when you ask where it goes "idk".

  29. The result of the audit of uutils coreutils is sad but entirely unsurprising. I've followed the development of uutils closely for a while now and it seems like a case of being too lax with reviewing merge requests and internal machinery. A *symptom* of this is allowing AI-generated code. The project isn't so bad to shove copilot or claude into everything ever, but there is no blocking of fully AI-generated MRs without much explanation of changes. I really hope this is a wake-up call...
