  1. @lime_juice_cube I don't have advice except to say I'm in the same boat. My blog at judisohn.com is on #Wordpress too on a cheap personal plan. I don't have the patience to move it to a different host and re-configure it. I can't justify paying $20+ a month just to get plugins and better themes, so I deal with it. It helps that I use #MarsEdit so I don't have to be in the horrible editor as much.

  2. @WyrdKnitting @judisohn I've been known to put most of the project into a mesh bag (the sort #WoolWarehouse pack their #yarn in, or the reusable veg bags from supermarkets!), but then it's just like having an octopus in a bag... And it STILL slides off your knees!

  6. Since I am avoiding dairy, sugar and artificial sweeteners, I’ve given up coffee and exploring #tea that is good without any added sweetener.

I have kettle & infuser. Green teas are too bitter. I enjoy black and herbal teas. Mint, cinnamon, spices, fruits.

Help this newbie #teasnob - Overwhelmed with choice. Are there online stores that make selection easier? What’s best way to store loose teas and remember what’s on bag - or do you just keep the bag in a basket on counter the way I’m doing?

  7. Since late February, at urging of neurologist to figure out source of idiopathic neuropathy (MS and most auto immune diseases ruled out) I’ve been on anti-inflammation diet avoiding dairy, eggs, gluten, grains, corn, sugar, artificial sweeteners, white potatoes. Heavy on berries, omega 3 fish, colorful root vegetables, nuts, and leafy greens.

Still have numbness more often than I’d like but feel good otherwise. And I’ve lost 15 lbs. Anyway…

Need some #teasnob community advice in next post…

  8. Part of the reason I’ve been quiet here is because I’ve been struggling with idiopathic #Neuropathy and #paresthesia for a while now.

Numb and sometimes painful hands and feet. After 2 MRIs, spinal tap, EMG, and at least 4 rounds of blood tests I can give long list of what it’s not. No MS, Lupus, Lyme, and neg for a lot of auto immune disorders. Never had COVID.

Now on Wahl’s Protocol which is kinda #LowFodmap meets #paleo. Not helping but never ate healthier in my life.

    Anyone else?

  9. In effort to save some money I've consolidated tools for personal use.

I used to use #Calendly and #Fantastical - since I use latter far more, I canceled Calendly and set up Fantastical Openings. 2 meetings scheduled this week and it seems to work quite nicely. Downside is that attendee can't cancel/reschedule their meetings. I can live with that.

I'm also trying to move all my task management back to #Obsidian now with the improvements in Tasks Plugin. That plus Apple Reminders should work.

  10. Please tell me there’s some way I’ve missed to opt out of #ActBlue and #NGPVan automatically subscribing me to every *#%^&^! Democratic Congressional Campaign’s mailing list simply because I had the nerve to support and want to hear from candidates in my own state & district.

No, I don’t want to “chip in” to random dude running in Colorado or elsewhere. I’m tired of playing Unsubscribe whack a mole.

  11. Been trying to find an #ios Mastodon client I like. I used to use #tootapp but that wasn’t keeping up. A lot of folks rave about #ivory - tried twice, not quite worth a subscription fee to me. Just canceled again. The official apps are just ok. Now I’m trying #icecubes again and you know what? It’s awesome. Improved a lot in the last year and so far, is checking every box for me.

  12. I came. I saw. I got a little wet in a steady drizzle. I shopped. And shopped. #Rhinebeck #knitting

  13. I had the best of intentions to finish this as my #Rhinebeck sweater. But alas was not to be. I am promising myself that I will finish it before starting any new #knitting with yarn I’ll buy at the festival this weekend. Keep me honest okay? @knitting

  14. Excited to be heading to #Rhinebeck this weekend for the first time since before the pandemic! If you are into #Knitting you know what I'm talking about. :-)

  15. Stupid, silly question: Now that #iOS17 is officially out, is it okay to just stay on the #ios17publicbeta track with #iOS17RC and still get future incremental releases?

I imagine it will take a restore to get off the public beta so I only want to do it if it's necessary. Thanks.

  20. Sadly I just set my Carrot weather app subscription to not renew. The default #ios17 #ios17beta weather app has improved so much.

I don’t need to pay for snark. I can get that from my family for free.

  21. I'm proud of myself. I bought enough yarn yesterday for 2 new sweater projects... but today I'm working on a 2-year-old project that I uncovered when I was putting the new stash away last night. I started it in November 2021.

Happy that I use #KnitCompanion so I can pick up right where I left off. Just sleeves left. Did about 2" last night.

The pattern is Primavera by Rachel Illsley. The yarn is 7th Floor Luscious Fingering, a merino/silk blend. #knitting #SundayKnitting @knitting

  22. My sure-fire tip for getting past #SecondSockSyndrome in #knitting:

Start that second sock *immediately* after finishing the first. The same goes for sleeves.

The second sock (or sleeve) always seems to knit up much faster than the first, but not if you allow yourself to start anything else.

  23. I’m still here. Didn’t go back to Twitter.

Quiet because I’m getting used to billable hours again as a #Salesforce consultant doing hand-on work in between #SFDOCommons #SFDOSprint and #MidAtlanticDreamin (community Salesforce conference in Philly) and the emotions of stepping foot in a Salesforce office for the first time in 6 months.

Plus a lot with my adult children with disabilities and other household/life management.

I should be #knitting more. Will try this weekend.

  28. I've been quiet as I've spent the last 6 weeks learning how to be a full-time employee again. I spent the last 2 days at events - #Salesforce World Tour in NYC on Thursday and #SFDOSprint on Friday. About 25K steps and a lot of standing. My feet still hurt. I'm out of practice. But my heart is full from the connections I made and re-established.

One more on Monday - #MidAtlanticDreamin (local Philly community conference) and then I can sleep.
