Total eradication is probably impossible, descendants of pandemic variants have already got back into wildlife.
BUT being #Endemic in animals doesn't mean numerous human cases are inevitable.
#Australia has some horrifying endemic viruses including #Hendravirus and #ABLV (Aussie #rabies) but human cases of both are zero in most years. Even if these transmitted easily between humans, a swift response could contain infrequent outbreaks.

actually #Hendravirus and #ABLV #Lyssavirus are NOT mild in humans (50% to 100% mortality) but we manage to stop humans catching them very successfully!
so SARS-cov-2 infecting wild animals is not an excuse to give up.
this disinfo graphic still bugs me a year later… yes, eradication is doomed, but that's not an excuse to just give up completely and wallow in filth like the #NSW #LNP

Great overview of the #AAIDS pandemic.
"COVID-19 causes turnover and aging of the immune cells responsible for responding to both COVID-19 and other pathogens"
[...]
"This immune dysfunction or aging is at least one of the most likely scenarios explaining the recent surges in diseases like RSV, influenza, Strep A, and other infections"

I already will continue using nasal and oral sprays, and mouthwash, to stave off infection, but does anyone know of any spray to INHALE so as to REALLY effectively keep covid, flu and RS out of the lungs? Something already available, I mean, not experimental drugs or vaccines (unless on the market, of course).

Covid is at a very low rate in Sweden right now. And, from what I gather, the same is true for most other countries. There is also little talk of new variants.
Is it over? Like forever?
Or will it be back in six weeks, just as it has always done these last three years? And/or will it be back next winter, now in a truly seasonal character?
Something FEELS different, but that's not very scientific. What do you all think?

"data trends and patterns suggest that COVID-19 may act as a disease accelerator, amplifying the risk of an illness that may have come later in life. "So, it could be that instead of being diagnosed with diabetes by age 65, a person with preexisting risk for diabetes might—after a COVID-19 infection—be more likely to develop diabetes by age 45 or 55.""

Birdflu - meet immunocompromised population!
"at least 585 sea lions and 55,000 wild birds have been found dead in seven of the country's coastal nature preserves, likely due to avian flu."

"A large group of experts from around the world say they warned the World Health Organization (WHO) at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that SARS-CoV-2 spreads through airborne particles, but their concerns weren't acknowledged until 3 months later"

This is going to be great!
"The animals were found to have a mutation of the virus that could make it easier to infect mammals"

Wasterwater samples from Malmö, Sweden - one of our last resorts for finding the true levels of covid in society. Unsurprisingly it's going up again.
-
So what happens when birdflu - 'normally' killing 56% - meets a population of immunocompromised people? There are vaccines (mostly grown in hens' eggs ironically, and dangerously), but apart from the time it takes to manufacture enough - what if they don't work; what if peoples' immune systems are too weak to adapt to the vaccines and - thus - the virus? What if the virus has mutated?

Flu rising again in Sweden, and RS will too.
After a steep drop flu hardly went below 19/20 flu season PEAK, and is now rising again.
RS also went down, is still going down, but slower now, and I predict it will rise again soon. Even after falling it is still at 18/19 PEAK!
Covid is low, relatively speaking, but seems on the up too.
This is how it is going to be now. Forever. Until something is done. So, yeah, forever.
