  1. @jnsgruk @popey No self-3D-printing required. There is a case from CoolerMaster which fits a @frameworkcomputer 13 motherboard so that you can use it like a PC.

I got a (now older) RISC-V motherboard from @deepcomputingio 's CEO Yuning Liang on FOSDEM 2025 for testing printing on RISC-V and I got it in such a case.

The case has Wi-Fi antennas (with adapter to connect to the board), VESA (100 mm) mount, stand.

    No RISC(V), no fun!

  2. @jnsgruk When will the software get rid of the discriminatory name and be called #GLIMPSE ? @zemarmot @GIMP

  3. @trifectatech @ubuntu @jnsgruk I wonder when someone decides to rewrite #PAM system to #Rust? 🤔

  4. sudo-rs might become the default in future Ubuntu releases!

  5. Delighted to announce that I'll be delivering the keynote at #RustConf in Montreal later this year!

The talk will be similar to my Rust Nation UK talk - titled "Rust Adoption At Scale With Ubuntu", but with updates following the release of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS!

Hope to see some of you there!

  7. Brewlog: Coffee & Agents

My latest #blog outlines how I built a super-niche application for tracking my specialty #coffee brewing and consumption, but also marks some of the most complex work I've done with an agent to date.

Built in #Rust with Axum, backed by #SQlite and with a #TailwindCSS based UI.

Take a read for some takeaways on the effective use of tools like Claude Code and Github Copilot, or if you fancy hosting your own super nerdy coffee tracking app!

  11. Two great updates from the #Ubuntu team in the last few days!

The first from our Debcrafters team explains the work they're doing to modernise the infrastructure behind the Ubuntu archive with #Juju and charms.

    discourse.ubuntu.com/t/moderni

The second celebrates our authd project entering the archive, which enables users to configure desktop/server authentication against cloud identity providers like EntraID, Google Cloud, etc.

  12. Today I published an update on the #Canonical supported #upki project, which brings browser-grade Public Key Infrastructure to Linux through the efficient #CRLite data format, with the core revocation engine now functional and available to test!

Beyond current progress, this post explores broader integration, performance, and future capabilities like Certificate Transparency enforcement and Merkle Tree.

This is all part of the effort to increase the resilience of #Ubuntu machines by default, but I hope it has a wider benefit on the Linux ecosystem going forward!

  13. A lovely write up about a jolly Python library for working with #Juju from #Python!

‘jubilant’ is an example of keeping it simple with ‘subprocess.run’, yet providing a huge uplift in developer experience for that community.

    Good work, Ben & team!

  21. Multipass: your cloud starts here

A new #blog from the #Ubuntu Desktop Director outlining some of the improvements in recent versions of #Multipass, and where it's going next.

Multipass is a sweet little app for #Linux, #mac and #Windows that enables you to quickly spin up Ubuntu and other Linux distributions using native virtualisation technology. Very handy for development and testing workflows.
