Today I’m going to setup an #Unraid server at a friend. It is my old server, we’re modifying it a bit and then I will help him set it up.
I wil provide him with my templates for docker so it we keep the directory structure the same he will be up and running in no time.
I think my self-hosting rebellion has rubbed off.. 😉
This will be a fun day, I love doing this stuff. 🤓

I have an #Unraid server running all my other stuff. And wanted Home Assistant to run separately from my ‘playground’.
At 6.5 Watts it’s a steal, and it was free. 😉
Oh… and I’m not saying I’ve got two more of the exact same NUC’s that do not have a designation,… yet.

Seeking Input: Streamlining PC Setup
As my kids grow older and get their own PCs, I’m stuck manually configuring everything for four people—Firefox sync, Steam, Office, etc. It’s a tedious process. Can I create an image or setup file on my NAS (TrueNAS) to automate these settings during/after OS installs (Win11, Kubuntu/Mint)? Businesses do this, right? Any advice?

New to #paperlessngx, trying to set it up. It’s a very powerful piece of (selfhosted) software. I like it!
I’ve already added #Gotenberg and #ApacheTikaServer to enhance the OCR capabilities and add docx support.
Next up is adding support for a small llm to automatically tag documents.
Last stage is to forward specific mail with attachments to a dummy address and have Paperless automatically import documents.
Still looking for a good iOS app so I can scan documents that come by mail.

@steltenpower @matv1 Yup, maar verandering bij ICT is vaak ervaren.
Voorbeeld: Bij 3 collega’s op hun oude laptops (2019) Aurora van #universalblue geïnstalleerd. Firefox en Edge. Edge om gemakkelijker vanuit thuis ‘op school’ te werken. Voor al het anderen Firefox. (Eentje wilde Chrome,… 🤢) LibreOffice, VLC, etc.
Heb ik gedaan omdat ik het leuk vind. En zonde als die dingen niet meer gebruikt zouden worden.

En dan praktisch: voor de meeste IT geld dat een browser genoeg is, daar kun je zo mee naar een andere clouddienst.
Of je zet https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Introduction op de systemen die de school nu al heeft. -
Zou er een baan zijn waarbij je de hele dag mag freubelen met ICT, oplossingen bedenkt die verschil maken? Les geven is gaaf, collega's top, maar het werk na schooltijd zuigt energie. Mijn brein draait constant: systemen bouwen, #FOSS implementeren, #SelfHosting perfectioneren. Samen met anderen oplossingen bedenken, hardware repareren, pragmatisch adviseren, uitleggen, begeleiden. Technische skills + didactische ervaring + onderwijsmensen, bestaat die combinatie? #ICT #Onderwijs #WegBijBigTech

Yesterday I spend a good part of the day removing obsolete Firewall rules, adding Object rules and creating new Firewall rules.
The goal was to clean up the 76 Firewall rules created by #UniFi because I migrated to the new Policy Engine.
I think my network still works? I’ll have to monitor the coming week.

Wij zijn ook lid van de bibliotheek. Het lukt me echter niet om op dit moment in te loggen bij de bibliotheek.

Dus… als je een vaag WhatsApp bericht krijgt over een boeking die via #booking_com is gedaan en daar een melding in staat met je datum van vertrek / aankomst en het precieze boekingsnummer en een niet-kloppende bevestigingslink. Dan kun je volgens mij wel spreken van een datalek… niet?
