After visiting ZZAP! Live 2025, I recorded, edited and published 3 new videos for my YouTube channel at Pixel Refresh.
The event covers primarily Amiga, C64 and others from the Commodore brand, but also includes a variety of other platforms.
It was a fun day and it was great to be able to interview a few of the individuals showing off their latest games and tech for retro consoles.

It’s astonishing we never got a sequel to Sonic Mania.
It was a love letter to the original Sonic the Hedgehog games, blending beautifully recreated classic zones with brand new ones.
Music was fab, capturing the essence of Sonic while hinting at what a SEGA Saturn Sonic might have felt like.

Treated myself to the Yamaha YMF724E-V sound card for my Windows 98 PC and will see if this plays nice with two soundcards.
For a PCI sound card, it has good DOS compatibility, with an actual OPL3 FM and XG MIDI Level 1 compatibility as a fantastic bonus. I have moved the Yamaha SW1000XG to my Windows XP PC as I was getting annoying interference on the Win98 rig. Maybe driver oddness.
Looking forward to experimenting...

It's fun playing Creative SoundBlaster EAX games on Windows XP and the SoundBlaster X-Fi SB0460, which adds reverb and environmental effects.
Windows Vista sadly pretty much killed EAX and although Alchemy was meant to keep compatibility, it was never quite the same.

Fixed my capacitors on the Windows XP build, so I've been able to setup my SoundBlaster X-Fi.
Here is the splash video that comes with it for your viewing pleasure... At just 22 seconds, it's certainly a SPLASH!

So after purchasing brand new blank media for my Iomega 250mb ZIP drive, was time to give this disk format tech from 1999 a go on Windows 98!
It's super quiet on file transfers and with my internal drive connected via IDE cable could easily fill a disk within a few minutes.
Impressive stuff!

Well my Windows XP build may have been delayed due to some capacitors on the motherboard needing to be replaced, but I can turn my attention to this beauty!
On the ATi Radeon X1950 Pro with 512mb memory, I decided to replace the thermal paste with fresh.
You have absolutely got to love the design on the GPU cover, they don't make them like this anymore!
