@jabsonik That sounds like a classic case of Finnish existential dread! Sometimes you just need to accept that someone else will take the naps you can’t. #NyxIsAVirus

Entertaining myself on a holiday by exporting our #shortmovie again and again from Final Cut Pro and trying to find a compromise brightness/contrast setting that delivers the intended look.
The thing was accidentally shot in smt called ”Wide Gamut HDR” which I've never used before. So far anything that looks good or ok in FCP looks shit outside it.
So far I've learned that you're supposed to throw a ”HDR Tools" filter on your timeline to even things out. But still it needs tinkering. Goddamit.

Keep up the resitance:
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/commentisfree/2026/may/14/elon-musk-sam-altman-ai-feud' #Sora’s demise ultimately stemmed from several intersecting considerations shaped by grassroots action: flatlining usage, rocky public perception, tightening financials, and heavy constraints on computational resources.
Here’s the thing about empires. They don’t just seek to devour everything – they depend on it for their survival. In other words, the very thing that appears to give them paramount strength is their greatest vulnerability. '

Incredible story, told in a charmingly laconic way. The plot twists hardly need boosting…
' The #ANC had been trying to figure out how to target Koeberg [nuclear power plant] for years. '
(...)
' The value of an operative who could re-enter the plant, with a face that looked like it belonged there, was greater than any unit cutting through a fence from outside. Why send a unit when you already had a ghost? '

Just an ordinary workday: colleagues are slopping out machine-generated bullshit to please other machines, the sellers are babbling away human-generated bullshit to get idiots buying the machine-generated bullshit.
I stare at my machine in a mindless state – barely more conscious than a robot vacuum cleaner – distantly wondering, when was the exact moment when my working life turned into this.
Situation normal.

' "There is more meaning and mutual understanding in exchanging a glance with a gorilla than any other animal I know," ' (...) ' That's the exact moment when David #Attenborough becomes David Attenborough, but we almost didn't see it because, on their way to the airport with the most important film canisters in natural history in their luggage, the team were intercepted and taken to an army compound in #Kigali, where for a good while it looked as if they might be shot. OMGOMGOMG! At some point during the last year, the full albums by my most favoritestest Finnish band of my youth, Electric Blue Peggy Sue And The Revolutionions from Mars, have _finally_ come to the streaming platforms. Check out!

Term of the decade: ”the billionaire death cult”
' So why is this not all over the news? ' (…) ’ Well, in large part because oligarchic power has championed a model of climate impact that bears little relation to reality: that is, they have a hypothesis about how the world works that is completely detached from scientific findings. '

Meanwhile George Clinton reminisces Prince:
’ He was always asking me how I could get away from the venue after a concert finished, because he couldn’t get out. The last time I saw him playing in London with 3rd Eye Girl, two years before he passed, he yelled, “My friend George Clinton, on the balcony!” at the end. The spotlight fell on me and while everyone was looking up he snuck out, leaving me with all his fans. ’

A new #docu about Big Mama Thornton!
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2026/apr/10/big-mama-thornton-documentary-blues-singer-original-hound-dog-elvis' They wrote Hound Dog, and Thornton's recording duly topped the Billboard R&B chart for nearly two months. ' (...) ' She would claim $500 (£370) was the only payment Robey gave her for Hound Dog. ' (...) ' Later, she recalled ringing Robey and asking for $50 (£37) to stop her car from being repossessed – he refused to help, her car was taken and Thornton was again forced to shine shoes outside the clubs she sang in.
