so in my mind a service is only #opensource if the service code itself and all the environment is, too, such that anyone can self-host.

got a valid point here. Additionally, the main rub for me as a Linux user is that I can't reliably run fwupd machinery on any of my systems and get a good feel of the state of my firmware (unless it's a DELL, in which case, only SOME of the firmware can be accessed).
Unsure if any not-Windows system has a proper handle on this should-be-non-problem...

Dammit! Setting O_NONBLOCK on kqueue file descriptor does not make kevent() nonblocking. Only passing zero'd timespec parameter to kevent does. This behavior is documented in the manual page, but still my brain decided to skip that part...Spent a couple of days and nights debugging this stupid bug.
