@hula_doll I read this and then got to the surpring hashtag. I'd have expected #TorontoLife or #CityLife 🤣🦝

On a digital archive, I found an amazing paper doll book, titled The Protean Figure and Metamorphic Costumes (1811). The illustrations are fabulous.

I'm looking forward to going through my record collection, which was returned to me. It's all boxed up. I also inherited all of my uncle's vinyl, which I will be sorting through too. I'm pretty sure he has first pressings of all the Beatles albums and a bunch of cool jazz albums. I'm really excited about playing and collecting vinyl again. I already have a list a mile long of what I want to buy. Unfortunately, records are no longer $5 (ha!), so I won't be going hog wild right away. #vinyl

When I moved to NYC, I left my record player & collection with a relative because I knew I'd never have the space to keep it in the city. Last week, I had a milestone birthday & decided to treat myself to a new record player, which I assembled today. The 1st record I played was U2 Live at the Marquee 1980. It's a limited edition double 10-inch that was a fan club release. (A friend who got multiple copies gave one to me.) The album has been sitting for 12 years waiting for me to play it. #vinyl

I had my 6-month review with my knee surgeon. He kept saying, "You're young" when talking over medical points. Even though he meant I'm young compared to the normal demographic who get the surgery I had (i.e., senior citizens), I was buzzing on the fact that anyone would call me young.
Yes, I'm young.

It's not Christmas until I get these bad boys made.
My sisters and I split the cookie baking responsibilities for Xmas every year (we make cookie boxes for friends). My sisters refuse to make these sugar cookies because they're so time-consuming to make between the dough making, the dough chilling, the rolling out and cutting, the watching them like a hawk in the oven, and then frosting them. But, for me, they're "Christmas essentials" so I spend the time to make them.

Remember when you were a kid and the Abominable Snowman in "Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer" scared you to death? I wish I could feel that fear of innocence again. As an adult, though, I get to giggle at Hermey's wanting to be a dentist, which wasn't funny to me when I was a kid.

I had 34 staples and several stitches removed from my knee and leg today. And you know what? It didn't hurt a bit. I feel free. Now it's a week of steri-strips and then my leg gets to be au naturel.
I got an A+ rating on my progress from both the doctor and physical therapist. I still have a long road ahead of me, but it seems I'm starting out well.

I took the bandage off my knee. Oh boy is my leg ugly! Like Frankenstein ugly. Staples galore and stitches. And so much bruising! I took a photo of my leg for personal keepsake. (I won’t be sharing the photo because it’s the stuff of nightmares.)

Wow! The Amsterdam Avenue & W. 62nd St. side of Lincoln Center is getting a redesign. More green and less concrete. I always thought that side of Lincoln Center was ugly.

"I'm in the lab all day / I Scrabble all night / I got a Bedazzler so my outfit's tight"
I spotted a Bedazzler on the shelf of my favorite thrift store in Madison yesterday, and it made me think of Adrock's lyrics in "Shazam!"

What book cataloguing site are people using these days? I won't use Goodreads because of Bezos, and I dislike LibraryThing (it looks like it was designed in the '90s). I don't want anything that requires me to download and use an app. It needs to be web-based.
Recommendations, anyone?

Five and dime stores are considered a thing of the past; however, in Spring Green, #Wisconsin, one five and dime has endured for 108 years. Nina's Department Store, founded in 1916, is a place that I went to when I was a child. It is a place that my mother went to when she was a child.
This weekend I stopped by the store and learned that it is closing because the owners are retiring. It's so sad to see this store, which has been run by four generations of one family, close.

I feel privileged to have had this experience because it was lost with the development of computers, layout programs, and digital printing. That Daylighter camera was a wondrous piece of equipment.

I will always be a lover of print. My first job ever was as a layout artist for a newspaper. This was before computers were commonplace. I would paste up pages in which the text and ads were created with a typesetting machine. I would fit and glue the individual text and images on a large waxy sheet and then shoot the pages with a Daylighter camera to create an image to be used for a print plate.

Tonight, I attended #Plantasia, a concert at #GreenwoodCemetery. It featured several artists paying tribute to the "Plantasia" album by Mort Garson. The 1976 album was recorded for plants. (Think stoner Moog music.)
I met a man who was visiting his father's grave just before the cemetery closed for the concert. He was lost in the cemetery and came across the concert. He was like, "What is going on? People are partying on graves?!" I had to talk him down and explain it really wasn't a party.

My #CSA share from Hearty Roots Farm this morning was bountiful: savoy cabbage, shishito peppers, poblano peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, peaches, potatoes, leeks, kale, pears, and organic eggs (some are blue!). I split my share with my friend/neighbor, so this photo shows only half of what we got. There were also beets, but I hate beets. My friend got them all.

I spent the first day of spring walking around #GreenwoodCemetery. I love taking photos there when the sky is bright blue. It's the perfect backdrop for the monument sculptures.

I love being a member of community supported agriculture (#CSA). My friend/neighbor and I are splitting a winter share from Hearty Roots Farm (https://www.heartyroots.com). It's wonderful getting fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese, and eggs in winter. This week's share: mixed greens, Russian kale, Ruby Frost apples, organic eggs, gold potatoes, turnips, beets, onions, shallots, fresh mozzarella, and sheep's milk cheese.
